Just let me give you some pieces of advises if you intent to pose with a bow in the future.

First about your left hand, you want to have your arrow ABOVE your hand, not in between your fingers. Also you want to have your hand at 10 o'clock angle, so that your elbow point outward. The reason behind this is so that your arm doesn't naturally bend inward and have the string rake across your forearm when you shoot.

Second your right hand, you only need two or three fingers on the string, no more. And never EVER bend the string of your bow! here you seen to have what look like a more traditionally inspired fantasy bow, but if you were using something like a compound bow you would have injured yourself easily and maybe cause some damage to your bow (like in this video:www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJoxJJ… . Also why is the back of your arrow is behind your hand ? If you haven't noticed yet there seen to be this small piece of extra length on the back of your arrow, its called a nock and it's purpose is to "attach" your arrow to the string, and its also the part your suppose to put in between your fingers.

As someone who want to become a bow hunter in the future and who has recently got an interest in archery, this is cringe worthy. I hope you found that comment useful and next time you use a bow, or any weapon for that matter, that you do your research and make sure you do things right.

Where should I start? This bow is a prop made out of a wooden chair so in fact these are two chair legs attached ...there so this was really heavy to lift. It´s weight is about 4 to 5 kilograms, it is not a excuse but since I made it just a few days before the photoshoot it was exhausting to keep the pose for minutes, hold the bow up in the air and still look like an elf with any bourden.

The arrow in other hand is just a stick of bamboo about 4 mm diameter, very light and not sanded in the surface, the back part and the arrow head are made out of tape painted with golden spray. So it would not damage anybody since in Cosplay you have to be aware of dangerous props...you can´t just perform with any weapon on stage even thought many like the real thing on the photoshots but in this case was not harmfull.  That thing can´t even fly... why I´m holding it like that? because of the reasons of the bow´s weight and the tape end (that doesn´t bend as feathers softly do) and of course that couldn´t stand on the string...it could have broken easily as the paint did at the end of the day.

As someone who has been a cosplayers for several year and it´s a profesional product designer this comments are interesting to read and I thank you for your concern but as you can see these are props so they differ from the real thing. I will keep in mind your information as useful as it is if I ever hold that heavy bow again. But relax the only person that could be hurt was me and my wrists...ah I almost forgot the string was loose elastic yard.
