Made specifically for the Tolkein contest at

Two Nazgul seek their treasure, the ring, which calls to them. Frodo, the Ring-Bearer, sits amid Weathertop smoking a pipe with Strider and staring at the Eastern horizon.

"The hills made an undulating ridge leading into the eastern land beyond. Weathertop was burned and broken, and nothing remained of it now but a tumbled ring, like a rough crown on the old hill's head. The light was no longer bright, for the clear morning had faded, and clouds creeping out of the East had now overtaken the sun.

In that lonely place Frodo for the first time fully realized his homelessness and danger. Above him was a black starry sky. He felt, rather than saw, a shadow rise. Soon there could be no doubt. Black figures were there on the slope, looking down on them. So black were they that they seemed like black holes in the deep shade behind them. Frodo thought that he heard a faint hiss as of venomous breath and felt a thin piercing chill. Then the shapes slowly advanced."

Original Painting is acrylic / mixed media stretched canvas on frame, 25x35inches. Was then uploaded and tinkered with the smaller details in GIMP / MyPaint. About 20-24 hours, I'd guess. I have work in progress shots, if you guys want them uploaded?
