Description There was a time
You were like a drug.
I only wanted more and more
Of what you gave.
But it didn't take too long
To feel the effects
Of your poison in me.
It was hard to quit you,
And yet I did.
And away I flew,
Suddenly I could breathe
And soar free
In my limitless sky.
I could smile again,
And reality wasn't a lie.
I don't need you anymore,
Nor do I crave you anymore.
You see ...
I really think
Cold turkey's the way to go.

interesting title, and yet i feel if you hadn't given us that final line you'd imply that you had given up without looking back. Your theme you've explored is something truly tragic and you grab at the heart strings which is rare for a poem to show so much about the evils of the human condtion. I feel something so intangible about this piece that you seem like you did something that was needed rather then forced out.
