This picture was taken a few days after I had to put my sweet kitty to sleep after her long fight with lymphoma. I was so overcome with grief that I wasn't sure what to do with myself; it felt like I had lost an important part of myself. Looking at my camera, I decided it had been a number of months since I've taken any photos. This is one of the photos I took that day, and although the ache is still there, I know deep down that Esme wouldn't want me to shut myself away from the things I love. The best way I can honor her is to keep doing the things that make me happy and know that as I'm taking my photos she's right there with me.
