Description My friend Theo ( i think his DA nick is artbytheo ), has been doing these stereo paintings. I decided to try it and it is freaking ADDICTING!!
Started a painting tonight specifically for that purpose.

Link to full explanation of viewing stereo painting: [link]

MY QUICK EXPLANATION:
Cross your eyes, so that the two paintings, become four like so [][][][] . Then, slowly, begin to uncross your eyes, and bringing the paintings together, and STOP until you only have 3 paintings like so [][][] . FOCUS on the one in the MIDDLE. Wait, and dont force yourself to see anything. Your brain will automatically focus in on it if you stare it at for a few seconds. After that, you can move your eyes around (while cross eyed) and you'll be to view the whole painting.

SO MUCH FUN!

All of you can try taking 2 pics of a subject: take 1st click, move the camera 20 cm left/right (keep floor distance) and click again. Then put the 2 pics in your computer, really next each other and try to cross eyes. It's a nice trip!
Painting is quite a different story, for sure!!!
But in the mean time you can have self training in crossing eyes on our pics!

This is totally awesome. How do you do this? just put the same painting like that or does the composition have to be special?

Nahhhh.... For now, I can only make it four like [][][][], but on that site with full explanation that you linked it works... I think, that's the matter of image's size.

HOLY SHIT!! I just had an awesome experience and I'm literally trippin' out! At first it was blurry when I crossed my eyes, but the more I focused, the clearer the stereo painting became.

Crazy, but very cool! Great work.

Eye-crossing for 3D images always came naturally to me - I even used to do it on floor tiles for fun, eheh. Never saw stereo paintings before though, 'tis really very nifty!

I don't think this is healthy for your eyes, I suggest you put a warning in your description.

If you do it wrong, like I did for a few times at first, then it hurts and makes your eyes water.

Even if you do it "right" I don't think this is natural to do with your eyes

annisahmad In reply to Dragdar [2008-12-29 20:45:08 +0000 UTC]

I believe that would be obvious, as I'm sure people have crossed their eyes before throughout their life and have probably learned that fact?
