Having linked up at Starbase Earhart, the USS Aurora, USS Endeavour, and the USS Venture prepare to head out on a joint mission of investigation into the Masali Sector. For twenty-three years the entire sector was wracked by a vicious war between two advanced races, the Aakali and the Rukath. The sector was ruled off limits to all Federation vessels when it was discovered that both sides were using outlawed weapons.

Now, in 2412, silence has fallen upon the entire sector, and the Federation council wants to know what has happened, and what it could mean for the surrounding areas. If the Aakali and the Rukath have made peace, then the Federation could send tentative offers of aid to both races and to those caught in the middle, but if both races have destroyed each other, then their weapons and technologies will be open for plunder by unscrupulous organisations and races.

Whatever awaits them, each crew is ready to expect the unexpected, but they're all hoping that the silence is due to the Aakali and the Rukath having declared peace.
