Description A while back I went to the store to get some clothes that weren't torn/old/paint-covered. While I was in the changing room I heard a little voice in the stall next to me ask, "Why do we have to buy things from the discount rack?"

A woman's voice went on to explain about how daddy had lost his job, and how mommy's job didn't pay well, but the little girl didn't understand. "These clothes don't fit right. They don't look good," she said. She had seen a nice outfit, though. It wasn't on the discount rack, but it would look great! The other kids at school wouldn't laugh at her for wearing it.

The mother tried to explain the concept of not being able to afford something, but the girl was too young to understand. She wouldn't be too young for long, though--she was at that age where pieces start to fall together.

It wasn't the Titanic or anything, but it was such a sad little moment I had to paint it.
