This is stunning. I am an enormous Terry Pratchett fan (just finished The Shepard's Crown, and have never cried so much in my life), have reread his books hundreds of times; Thud! is my favorite.
I am in a Hogswatch card exchange on Facebook, and, since I am not artistic, would you mind if I used this on one of the cards I'm making? It's not for sale, of course, we're exchanging them person to person. I'd credit your work, of course, and feel free to say no.

hahaha love how people try to find deeper meaning where sometimes you just drew for the heck of it. Awesome work though, and i hardly think you'd need a meaning any deeper then that of the book itself.

Dear AnnPars, the University of Chichester publishes a journal on folklore, fairy tales and fantasy called 'Gramarye' and we are looking for an image to accompany an article on the Wincanton Hogswatch celebrations. I will be asking other artists, and the publishing department will have final say on the chosen image, but if you are happy for me to submit this image to them as a suggestion, could you possibly let me know your conditions for reproducing this image?

When I draw skulls the biggest problem for me is that I actually add grimace and, well, face where there should be none... I mean, a skull's a skull, if it should express any emotions they should come from lighting or something o_O Not an easy thing, that's for sure.

Yeah, I think Kidby actually does add some facial expressions, but very subtly, so it still looks like a skull. I'm not sure how exactly he manages to make a skull look happy and not grimacing, but he does. Lighting's probably a big part of it though, I'll have to go back and look at some of his Death pictures to see *wanders off to find Kidby art*
