While I feel "Kill la Kill" went too far more than once, I admire it that, at it's core, it was about a good story and not about the graphic/explicit content. And while Ryuko is likable enough and is ultimately the "hero" of the series, to me it was Satsuki who stole the show.

She ended up being a great leader and a more faithful friend than Ryuko, she cleverly amassed a resistance right under her mother's nose while appearing perfectly loyal, she has more secret contingency plans than a box of Doctor Dooms, she patiently endured a lifetime of sexual molestation without ever breaking, she covertly caused Ryuko to master using Senketsu by selectively goading her and all while secretly protecting both her and her student body, she passed along secret messages to her followers after being beaten, stripped, humiliated, and hung by a chain for two weeks and escaped the same imprisonment using nothing but her TOENAILS, she telegraphed every single act that let to her Heel-Turn-Face since the first episode by hiding a double-meaning in everything she had been saying and doing...

And she only managed to fight Ryuko to a draw...while wearing a god uniform that was not only trying to seize control of her the entire time but was eating her alive every second she wore it.
