Here's a tip since I've been studying animation for a while. The key to fluent animation is contrast between each frame so to get a good feeling of moving a certain direction from a stop (in this example falling foward) try making the character lean slightly back-up (in the opposite direction) for one frame before falling forward-down.
This principle can also be done on when she first hits the ground, she'd bend her forearms from the velocity and weight downward before lifting herself upright.
