No one mentioned this as a plausible explanation to why. Nasal reddening via the activities of cave lions.A choke-hold to the muzzle is a common tactic of suffocating prey among the big cats. Granted, the tooth marks rarely break the skin, I do believe nasal hemorrhages do occur at times.
The Alaskan find, Blue Babe (Ice age steppe bison, Bison priscus) had puncture marks on its snout complete with coagulated blood in its nasal cavity, and a tooth fragment found in its hide, which, added to the presence of matching canine-marks on the snout and scratch marks on the legs confirm cave lions to be the killer.
Here I replicate this with a reindeer.

I thought of a concept like this once in middle school
I was in a room with a bunch of believers in Santa (I was told the truth a year or two earlier) and I said "they only way for a red nosed reindeer to exist is if it was attacked by a pack of wolves and bit on the nose" (bloody snout)
