I was pretty terrible, and slow at weapon and armor design, until I started using alchemy. Now I'm at least fast at it. For the completely ornamental nature of most commercial fantasy art that I work on, alchemy lets me work faster then the speed of self doubt. When I first started doing fantasy concept I would get really bogged down by the fact that I was prodded to design in a completely aesthetic, and esoteric way that didn't make sense to me. Alchemy allows for me to play that game of finding order in the chaos that i did as a kid splattering ink with marbles.Related content

Heh heh heh. I know what you mean, but it's still surreal to hear somebody promote doubting oneself. I can almost imagine you launching a line of t-shirts that read "Give up." Is there any way to work that into AoC?

I was just toying around with your previous statement to make it sound like you promote the wrong kind of self-doubt. It's not something you hear a lot of these days so I was just running with it while I could.
