Description When I transported this picture from my camera to my computer and opened it for the first time, I got all excited. The title was immediately very clear to me and I just had to submit this.

Versus.
Spring versus Winter. We had snow the last few days, while it's Spring. The moment I started typing this, it started to snow again. Weird thing is, that it's 7 degrees Celsius above zero. Temperature keeps dropping and rising.
It's a melting snowflake on a branch.

I didn't change much to this, really. I cropped it, looked at the Levels, the Curves, turned it to Monochrome and added my watermark.

I've been playing so much with the Lensbaby and the Polaroid 600, that I started to miss my Tokina 100mm. So, this picture is taken with my Canon 400D, Tokina 100mm f/2.8 macro and Slik master 67 tripod.

What a rare capture! Brilliant title, too. That had to have been hard to focus in on, but it turned out beautifully!

Sharpeshots [2008-03-29 02:34:00 +0000 UTC]

nice macro, would have liked maybe a little more dof to grab a more frontal focus, but it is very neat all the same.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Anoya In reply to Sharpeshots [2008-03-29 07:21:12 +0000 UTC]

Thanks much!

But a frontal focus would've taken away the attention from the snow flake, I think

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sharpeshots In reply to Anoya [2008-03-29 12:16:44 +0000 UTC]

at that DOF yep it most definitely would have which is why i also suggested a deep DOF. lol but don't get me wrong it's a wonderful shot.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Anoya In reply to Sharpeshots [2008-03-29 13:33:02 +0000 UTC]

You mean a wider DOF then? Deeper is just further away.

Wow. It's amazing the detail you capture in that one photo. The ice looks so amazing.
But when I first saw the photo, I was unsure of what it was. So I had to read your comment to get a better understanding of what it was. And now that I know, that is an amazing photo! (How bad is that?)

Anoya In reply to IZ-Person [2008-03-26 09:58:42 +0000 UTC]

Aww, thank you very much! I got a really abstract feeling from this at first as well, while I knew exactly what it was!

I hope to become as fluent as you in this one day soon. Lately I just seem to shake so bleeping much and then I look at this and remember; the picture should be what I WANT it to be. (The sad thing is both my telephoto and macro have IS. Obviously one does not always have also the convenience of tripod, every moment one needs it). And, of course everyone has their own style. I fear if I don't stop shaking, I will have a blurry one. ^^

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Anoya In reply to aardet [2008-03-26 10:01:14 +0000 UTC]

I'm sure you can get a stable hand as well, hon. But in this kind of macro, when getting so close to the object that you're at the maximum 'minumum' distance, I have a very unstable hand as well. I really need my tripod in situations like this. Especially when it's a bit windy as well But I don't always have my tripod with me either, so I do get my blurry shots once in a while as well

Thanks much, sweets!
