Everyone excited for Rogue One!? Like I had to ask, right!! haha I had the pleasure of working on both The TIE Striker and U-Wing Expansion Pack merchandise earlier this year for Fantasy Flight Games and in collaboration with Disney. I can't tell you guys enough how great and humbling an experience this was for me!

For this piece I had to illustrate several TIE Strikers in a Death Star Hangar Bay. I had references on how these new ships would look (well, kinda- they were still finalising the design), but Disney wasn't giving much away on how the chaps flying them parked their vehicles after shooting down some Rebel Scum for the day, which was coolio by me as it gave me the chance to explore this grey area. Originally, we were going by the new TIE Fighters code name- "Batwing" and that gave me the idea for how they'd be parked- like bats hanging about in a cave! I also borrowed some inspiration from U-Boat sub pens and how U-Boats were docked. After submitting some sketches for this assignment, it was decided by my Art Dir, John Quinine, to move forward with this concept. We both wanted to exaggerate and make the hangar bay look epic since it was the Death Star and not go with something small and mundane. I tried to park up a couplea Star Destroyers too, but it just cluttered the piece waaayyyyy too much so they were taken out.

We still don't really know how the bloody things park in the film or if they'll even show that much, but I was told LucasFilm liked this idea and approved my docking concept to be used for this illustration
