What dose FO stands for anyway? First Order? Seem a bit out of place considering those two words are meant describe the role of the said model.
IE: The original one was called TIE/LN or "line" fighter AKA the Standard model.
The TIE interceptor was called the TIE/In or the interceptor model.
While the TIE Bomber was called the TIE/SA or the Surface Attack model.
I hope the is means something else cause it would be really lazy for Disney to do that.

I'm hoping that next episode, we'll see upgraded TIE Interceptors. I always felt that the TIE/IN was superior to the TIE/LN anyways (not just in looks either!).

Yeah, but most likely we'll see them in episode 8 & 9...episode 7 can't have all the merchandise goodies!

Was kinda disappointed that the new TIE series fighters are essentially a colour palette swap. Then again the disappointment comes because the EU TIE variations after Endor may not come. But the art is beautiful.

Yeah, the TIE/fo from The Force Awakens are very similar to original TIE fighters. I read an article that talked about this and compared F-14, 15 & 16 jet fighters from the 1970s/80s to modern versions of today and showing how very little has changed, only upgraded.

Problem is though the F series fighters are actually functional. In Star Wars the TIE series was always overshadowed by Incom's X-wing. The Empire switched to using TIE fighters due to the success of the Eta Actis during the Clone Wars, what wasn't forseen is that the success of that Interceptor was due to the Jedi Pilots if a normal person or even clone tried the Eta it was a suicide mission. That is why I wanted the first order to have a new starfighter to match the success of the X-wings.

Ah, pretty cool. I guess that makes sense thinking back to Revenge of the Sith. You'd think ol' Palpatine woulda sensed what it takes to fly the Eta haha

I guess one problem he had was the fact he retired the Venator class which could fit a large number of larger fighters. The Imperator/Imperial's fighter compliment isn't as big due to all the other crap they carried so needed a small fighter. The Republic TIE was actually another warning since it wasn't as good as other fighters of it's era it's only strong point was it could be fitted to Carrack light cruisers and Dreadnaught heavy cruisers who couldn't fit fighters originally.

Well upgrades aren’t really bad. I mean the TIE series fighters look cool as fuck. Only problem I have is that the radiators should be black. I have never seen any radiator panels that weren’t black! Even real life satellites and space stations have black radiators when not dissipating heat. My problem with the new movie so far is that they got rid of all the fixes from the EU, only new fix I like is that Tarkin ordered the Imperials on the Death Star I to not actually hit Luke and company. He wanted them to lead them to the rebel base. Also the TIE series had lower armor than the moderate to heavy armor of the X-Wing fighters since those descended from the war time ARC-170 multi-role fighter bombers.
