Jesarrin was rumored to have the second sight. A gift from beyond the grave that parted the curtains of time for her hidden eyes. Many came to see her and inquire about the future, offering gold and rare gifts in exchange for a hint of what was to come.

The cost of such a talent was steep. She could never give a direct answer, replying to supplicants in cryptic riddles and sayings. She had to show her devotion to the source of her power by remaining always chained to a giant boulder deep within her cave, being attended by handmaidens that themselves had to wear yokes of metal as a mark of their servitude to the Seeress.

To speak to the Chained Seeress supplicants had to first speak to one of her attendants, prove they were worthy of her time. In theory this weeded out those who did not have serious questions. In practice this weeded out all but the wealthy and politically connected.
