ATTENTION! ATTENTION! WE'LL BE ARRIVING AT BESAID DOCKS SHORTLY. ALL HIGH LEVEL PERSONAL PLEASE BE PROMPT!

Came a metallic voice from the hallway. Must be the speaker I thought. I got out of bed at a slow pace. I still had that pain when Doji hit me with that Thunder spell.

After getting dressed and writing my report on last nights events, I put together all my equipment in a small bag and left for the Meeting Room.

Everybody was already there; Cpt Mera, Mj Kilik, Botan and San.

Cpt Mera: "Anth, glad you could join us. I already read San's report, would you like to share your side?"

"Certainly." I said as I gave her my report.

I sat down and watched as she read my report. I noticed that San was looking at me from the corner of my eye. I turned to face her, but she looked away the moment we made eye contact. I then turned to Cpt Mera again. She just finished reading the last line, put down the report and sighed.

Cpt Mera: "This isn't really a big deal, but after reading the reports, I'll have to conclude that both of your reports have equal basis. We can't conclude that there is an intruder by the fact that 'marks' appeared at your door Anth. San I cant accuse Anth just on your suspicion. I didn't hear that boy Doji's part either. It seems there is tension between you two, that's obvious. So for the time being you two will be working together when we reach Besaid Temple."

San: "What did you say?"

Cpt Mera: "You heard me. You two will do research inside the temple. Since Guados are allowed to enter restricted religious areas, you wont have a problem. Anth was basically a Yu Yevon monk, but not under complete influence. So he will be able to join you. The Temple's High Priest has granted us permission, but only under conditions that only Guados and Monks may enter the site."

Botan: "Site?"

Cpt Mera: "Yes, the site; the Aeon Chamber."

Botan: "You mean where summoners receive the Aeons?"

Cpt Mera: "Correct. The two of them will see if the Aeons are active or not. The reason why we are doing this is due to that the fact that Summoners who are still alive cant seem to.. well..Summon their Aeons after Lady Yuna defeated Sin. We need to see if the Aeons are still present in the chambers or not."

San: "The Yu Yevon religion is no more, why should the Monks still make restrictions?"

"Its hard to let go in what they believed in for their entire lives. Even normal people still believe in the fallen religion. We will have problems in the future." I said.

Cpt Mera: "True. This is a delicate thing that needs be handled correctly. Some people will refuse to believe that the Yu Yevon religion has fallen. Even after these few years there is still no authority in Spira. Only the Crusaders are to keep the basic law and peace flowing. There are parties forming that intend to take control of Spira. We need to make sure that our mission is successful."

"And what is that again?" I asked.

Cpt Mera: "Our Mission: Record Spira after Sins death. We'll start with the Aeons, and then follow on how much influence the Temples still has and numerous others. There are also rumours that ancient sites have been reappearing long thought lost and that these "spheres" are appearing that contains Spira's true history and who rightly rules."

Mj Kilik: "Are we to search for those spheres as well?"

Cpt Mera: "No, we don't have to worry about them. People called 'Sphere Hunters' are searching for them as we speak. We'll get the relevant information from them. There are many groups of Sphere Hunters, some with our intentions and others who use the spheres to their own advantage."

Botan: "There is a rumour that Lady Yuna joined one of them!"

Cpt Mera: "Yes, I know. You told me earlier."

Botan: "oh yeah.~"

Cpt Mera: "Okay lets going. We'll touch down at the beach docks and journey inland. I don't want to be rude and land on their heads. Besides Mj Kilik and his Crusaders have been itching for a fight with some fiends here."

Mj Kilik: "Damn right!"

Cpt Mera: "Bring your weapons in case for unexpected problems. I know there are low-level fiends here, but nonetheless I don't want to lose a crewmember now. I'll join you four when we go to Besaid. Some Crusaders will be joining us. Right! Dismissed!"

We left the room shortly. I went to get my spear from my room and decided to leave some stuff I already packed in my bag for some reason other that eager excitement. I then left for the outer bridge. It was a clear day with the Sun blazing brightly high in the sky. It was windy naturally on the bridge, as would be seeing that were flying. I looked over the railing on the side of the ship and looked in the direction the ship was heading. I could see the Island of Besaid in the distance. I noticed we were slowly getting closer to the surface of the water. Not only that but were decreasing speed. The ship then slowly touched the waters surface. The ship waddled a bit, but quickly got suited to the new form of friction. There were light sprays of seawater blowing into my face. I was quickly joined by other crewmembers who also enjoyed the sea air. I took a deep breath and sighed relaxingly.

Just as a felt completely free from anything. San came standing next to me.

San: "Its your fault. Now I'm stuck with you!"

"You make it sound as if it was a bad thing." I said

San: "Don't flatter yourself."

She then looked at my spear on my back.

San: "You call that a weapon? A stick with a pointy end?"

"I suppose you have something better?" I asked her.

San: "Yes in fact. A Meladonna Wand."

"A short stick with sparkly bits...genius." I replied.

San: "Hmph!"

She left shortly, seems I got her at her own lame joke.

I then walked over where the bridge was going to be lowered onto the docks at the Besaid beach port. We were basically there and waiting the ship to make a stop. I then noticed a small figure walking towards me. It was Doji.

Doji: "Hey Mr Ronso, guess what?"

"Just call me Anth, Doji. And what is it?" I replied.

Doji: "I'm going with you guys to the village! I'm going to help record the fiends that we find! I hope I find a new kind of fiend! Wonder what should I name it if I find one? What do you think?"

"Doji." I said.

Doji: "Yes, what?"

"No, I mean call it a Doji." I suggested.

Doji: "Huh? Why?"

"Becuase you're enough of a pest already" I answered.

Doji: "Hey, I told you to be nice!"

"Oh relax." I said.

The ship came to a standstill at the dock. There were people on the docks and beach waving at us. Doji happily waved back and yelling 'Hello!'. There were children running from the forest onto beach to greet us. The beach was cluttered with boats and fishnets. But it was clean. These people are still living with nature as they did before Sin died.

Doji and I stood in front of the bridge that was lowered down onto the dock. It landed with a thump.

I walked down the bridge with Doji and the other Crusaders. I looked on as the local people greeted the Crusaders and some of the Al Bhed crew. Only after this short time it seems that all races can get along, not including the Ronso's and the Guado's. Speaking of Guado's, San came up to me:

San: "Lets get this thing over with."

Anth: "Where's Cpt Mera and Mj Kilik?"

San: "They'll meet us in the village momentarily. She said we should go without them."

Anth: "Okay then, lets go."

As San and I began walking onto the beach, Doji came running after us.

Doji: "Can I come with? The other Crusaders are not moving without Mj Kilik's order. I don't wanna wait!"

San: "Seems that some people are a bit unenthusiastic..."

Doji: "No, its because most of them never flown on a ship before."

Anth: "So?"

Doji: "They're a bit sick and don't wanna move around much for now."

San: "Terrific! Now we have to go ahead without the Captain or Major Kilik and no Crudsaders for backup!"

Anth: "Don't worry so much. This island only has low-level class fiends. Besides after the Crusaders get their bearings, they'll join us."

Doji: "Okay! Whatever! Lets Go!"

I looked at San she gave me a shrug. So we walked along the beach, just waving politely to the passers by. We then got to the forests entrance that split into two directions; on the left was what looked like make do stairs out of old ruins. On the right was a steep cliff with a lake of water at the bottom.

San: "I'm not getting this dress wet. We'll go left."

We climbed over the ancient stairs and started walking. We soon reached a path that was cut into the side of a sandy brown cliff. Waterfalls was streaming all over the side of the cliff and crashing into the rocks below. There was a light spray of water, which was refreshing under the Sun. There were large ferns palm trees and other large green plants growing out of the side of the cliff, where the water hit. We crossed a few bridges on this path. We had to keep close to the railing on one bridge as a waterfall was cascading on its side, making the bridge slippery. We just crossed the last bridge when suddenly!

Anth: "HEADS-UP!!"

A savage bird Flyer, the dog like Wendigo and the liquid blob Flan appeared out of nowhere! We took out our weapons and took our stances.

Anth: "Doji, can you handle this?"

Doji: "With my twin daggers? Anytime."

Anth: "San?"

San: "Just worry about yourself Ronso!"

The Flyer gained height and attacked me with a beak dive! I retaliated, by swiping my spear hard into the air! The Flyer fell to the ground and disintegrated into Pyros. Doji went running in to attack the Wendigo. Doji made a spiraling move, first cutting the fiend with his right dagger then his left. The beast fell back and disappeared. San held her Meladonna Wand high into the air and shouted THUNDARA! While quickly pointing it to the slimy Flan! A large crack of lighting came down from the heavens and struck the blob. It too turned into Pyros as it was sent off to the Farplane.

Doji: "That was easy."

San: "Too easy, not even a challenge."

Anth: "Were bound to run into more. Lets get going."

We walked on. We soon came to a corner where path went downward. I realized we were on a lower cliff. There was a shrine over looking the village.

Doji: "Look the village!"

Doji got brownie points for stating the obvious.

We journeyed down the path and like I predicted we had some random battles. Nothing we couldn't handle.

We soon got to the villages archway.

Botan: "Hey! Slow down!"

We turned to find Botan out of breath followed by Cpt Mera, Mj Kilik and some Crusaders behind him.

San: "How did you get here so fast?"

Cpt Mera: "One of the villagers told us to take the right path at the forests entrance. The one with the lake. We didn't mind getting wet."

Doji: "Great, so we took the long way."

Mj Kilik: "Well at least all of us are here."

With that all of us nodded and continued through the archway. We were soon greeted by the Temple's Monk. He gave us the old Yu Yevon bow. San and I did the same out of respect. The Crusaders never followed the Yu Yevon tradition and Cpt Mera would never do it, seeing she was Al Bhed. She only nodded.

Besaid Monk: "Welcome to Besaid Village. Proud home of Lady Yuna and her guardians."

Botan: "IS SHE HERE!?!?!"

Everyone looked at Botan in disbelief with his outburst.

B-Monk: "Eh..no. She left onto a journey of self-discovery. Her two guardians who live here are in Luca to watch the Besaid Aurochs play."

Cpt Mera: "No matter. It would have been a pleasure to meet them, but we have work to do."

B-Monk: "I understand that you would like to record to what effect the death of Sin on village has, correct?"

Cpt Mera: "That's right."

B-Monk: "Not much has changed. Some people still pray in the temple, but they only pray for their loved ones and not to Yu Yevon. I would be foolish to say that the Temple's word is still law. I'm an opened minded old man. So I realize reality quickly. The real authorities here are the Crusaders. Oh well... As long the future of Spira will be a happy one!"

Mj Kilik: "So do we. So lets get started. I'll talk to the local Crusaders on their progress and hear any problems. You lads go out and record the fiends and be careful. That includes you Doji. Cpt Mera will gather the people to talk to them. Anth and San will follow the Monk into the temple. Now lets get going."

The Crusaders left on their fiend-hunting mission. Mj Kilik went into the local Crusaders tent. While Cpt Mera started gathering people to hear their opinions on Sins death and who should govern Spira. The Monk led San and I into the temple.

The temple was empty. All the candles was lit and the air was full of incense. The statues of past summoners still standing proud. In the back was the stairs that led the Aeon chamber. All three of us walked towards the steps, but the Monk stopped.

Anth: "What's wrong?"

B-Monk: "Even though Im opened minded person, I still believe that the dead should be respected and left alone."

Anth: "Then why are you allowing us to go?"

B-Monk: "You two both know the Yu Yevon religion and can respect the dead the way they should be. Besides if the souls of Hades are in there, it'll be your funeral. No one went into the chamber since the death of Sin and the summoners lost their ability to summon the Aeons."

San: "Thank you (I think)."

B-Monk: "Does the lady Guado mind if I quickly talk to her in private."

San: "Very well then, Anth go ahead without me or are you sacred?"

Anth: "Not at all."

I stepped in front of the door. The door slowly lifted upwards, the inner decor pulled away and a stale wind escaped from the door.

I swallowed deeply and pressed onward into the darkness as the door closed behind me.
