blood doesn't react like water does, blood is a non Newtonian fluid (look it up if you don't know what it is) mixing 3 parts ketchup 1 part water might yield blood like results (I have not tried this, its just a rough guess, you may have to play with the amounts) Alternately red food coloring (possibly a bit of blue as well, depending on if you want arterial or veinous blood) and some corn starch (not too much or you will get that goo that turns momentarily solid when it is hit or moved)

It's just for my school documentary so I don't have a link. If you want to watch it, then send me your email and I'll send it to you. Also the credits were too long so unfortunately I could only put the people I interviewed to match the time limit.
