That wall kind of makes me feel sad with all the writings dedicated to Elliott. Someday I'll travel to America and go see that. And your shirt is just amazing.

But the picture has a huge effect on me and looks really cool, your expressions and all.
I think this deserves to be faved.

[My apologies if you received a blank post; my fingers fail to be nimble enough to press the correct button, forgive me.]

The tones are vivid in this piece, and the expressions are well portrayed. The sense of tangible familiarity it seems to snapshot is quite remarkable, and the images in the walls merely paint another depiction of awesome-ness.

Excellent, excellent. Keep up the good work!

yes, advertising art on DA makes difference... you didn;t make any other comment on other people's art, no favs at all... its not the way community works, before, when there was no comercial stuff over here, we used to do comments on each others things and it was the only way you could get exposure - by collecting friends!!! And now, you just need money and boom! your #1 deviant, without even communicating with others... I hate DA... wanna find something more photography oriented - not money oriented like it is now!

now about picture, I don;t know about people who commented here, but its a big mess. I don't get how it can have 1000Favs, first of all you never cut legs in photos like that, it's a rule... plus you have it off center, off golden mean, I mean the characters - in other words, photo is okay, but not that great... now about originality of the photo, I doubt it... there have been submissions like that. The real reason why this got over 1000 favs is that it was very well advertised, probably anticide wasted quite a bit of here college money to get through.

BTW, D200 is cool... congrats on having that beast.

anticide In reply to wise-ass [2006-05-14 00:49:35 +0000 UTC]

Not cutting off legs isn't a rule. Nope, never was.

It's off-center because I didn't want it to be too symmetrical. I also offer a symmetrical version here: [link] if you like simple-minded art.

Conforming to the rule of thirds in every picture isn't art.

enjoy

wise-ass In reply to anticide [2006-05-14 01:41:37 +0000 UTC]

oh, and forgot one thing... that concerns many other deviants over here... art is great when you can relate to the photo, find your own self in the image, follow the artist - grasp his feelings, see the grace. There is no idea or topic I can relate to in this piece of "art" - its nothing more than a stereotype executed in a way that most rookie photographers would do. Kudos to your D200 though, it's a nice cam - you should try it out in the street photography - that's what I call art Doing calculations right in the street, when you have 20 seconds to decide what aperture to use, or your shot is runied... scenario photography is an absolute shit, just like studio portraits...

p.s. Pose of that girl looks absolutely artificial to me.

And sorry for that much negativity in my comment, I just had to say it someday. Probably no one will ever read this except you, and your young you can become a nice photographer.

I'm sure many people can grasp feelings from this. Are you blind? It's staring you in the face.

Anyway, the set is a memorial wall to a musician who killed himself, and all the little notes written on the wall are in loving memory.

Yeah, real hard to decide what aperture to use, hahaha. F/8 and be there, as they say.

And for all Automatic mode lovers, you can get allot more creative with manual modes... they help you to grow professionaly.

ANd I wonder why you need camera like d200, you could easily make same kind of shot with any 200$ range soap camera.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

anticide In reply to wise-ass [2006-05-14 02:03:01 +0000 UTC]

nowhere did I say auto mode, although auto mode works perfectly in most situations.

The D200 does an excellent job with white balance and I can make 20x30 prints out of the RAWs I shoot.

I also use a Mamiya C220 for portraits and I shoot kodachrome 64 on my 8008.

any $200 cam? I need a cam with a lens to play with zoom and depth of field. Maybe this shot could have been done on any camera (it wasn't done on my d200, was a fuji superia shot), but many of my others couldn't.

you don't have to explain it to me, I believe you are a great person and have nice vision... just try to move towards originality, don't get over and over with steretypes. I wish you good luck and I'll put you on my watch.

Best of luck,
Sandrio
