Yeah, I remember as a kid reading that and snorting! I can kind of see it now though. Everyone has two faces, and Sonic is very extroverted when it comes to situations like fighting and exploring, but he's probably unsure of how to deal with being in a romantic relationship, and he is probably worried about screwing it up and losing one of his oldest friends.
