/submits old art to let people know I'm not deadI'm stuck in like the worst artblock ever DX
Anyway this is a sketch I did of my character Belial people seemed to like it for the black and white look I guess. I hope to do an actual picture of him sometime *lol like I say with all my oc's of which only a handful have art in my gallery*
I also don't care if he's not what you'd consider a demon haha cos I based him off the goetia/most common appearance in which he is described as a beautiful angel/an angel in a chariot of fire/2 angels (basically an angel ok) most of the time but I wanted to give the impression he is a fell creature and have him wear torn ragged robes and a jagged crude crown. His wings are also grey from the ashes of the fall. (I also don't have skill for true form demons and angels that I would like to do D|)

the sad thing is this was like not even sketched (other than the face lol) I did it completely with black pen tool D| and it ends up looking better than half my lineart DX
Originally he had blacked out eyes 8) but friends said he looked better with the eyes because they stood out. I wish I could make a hologram print where you could flip between the eyes XD.

and i'm not sure if this counts, but Lucifer was described as incredibly handsome and bright even though hes a fallen angel. So there's really no set description for demons in my opinion.

thank you =v= and yeah Lucifer was the most beautiful of all angels so it goes I'm not brave enough to interpret him though XD it's just most people have this view that demons need to be basically horned things my bf for one thinks of darksiders as like the definition of a demon =A=. Like I said in other comment it's also just really boring if every single demon has horns/wings and yeah how did that come about anyway? I have my own reasons for my characters stories why it would happen to some but definitely not all if anything it only happens with lower demons not the first who fell and became the crown princes and 72 of the goetia. At least that's my version for my characters anyway and yeah if you read supposed descriptions half of them are animals or chimera (more than 1 animal) or even just look like men in certain clothing lol.

ehe no problem. And I can understand why you would be intimidated in drawing him, being the 'brightest angel' or something like that. Its kind of sad that people think that way of demons because there are so many cultures around the world with a bunch of interpretations of demons, and not all of them are the stereotypical wings and horns type. I really don't know myself why the stereotype of demons came to be ;H; Oh thats cool how you have a different interpretation, and it sounds really interesting! I'm going to read them in my spare time!

thanks <: and yeah it's also really boring if every single demon you design has horns or wings (you also run out of ideas and fall into stupid impossible designs I speak from experience XD) And yeah when he is described as looking like an angel why wouldn't you use that as design inspiration :V

you're still good regardless of your artblock! i really hate them too, but just take it one step at a time and don't force yourself to draw! I think that just makes it worst lol

urgh they're the worst D| at this point I have to try to draw a little each day even if its sketches that don't get posted and just binned because I haven't done anything since like march and wow I can't draw even simple things (to me) like a face /sob. Thanks dear hopefully it will go =n= this year sucks for artblock for most people I know I'm glad you seem able to draw more lately =v=

well its because I'm often told crap like 'doesn't look like a demon', 'demons shouldn't be pretty', 'demons should look like monsters' etc =A= the usual stereotypes and almost every Belial character you will find will be some guy with horns. Seems all demons need horns and to be half naked which is like why? If they were angels why would every single one of them have horns and demons are fallen angels basically. Well I've got my own interpretation for my oc's of fallen angels becoming demons but I don't feel comfortable sharing it unless it's with friends =w=. I base mine on the goetia demons *unless they're like Lyle who's not a goetia demon so I can do what I want with him* many of which take on human appearances after a while when conjured but these are my own versions/interpretations that I try to incorporate some of their description appearance into the designs. Malphas is another one but his demon form is literally a crow XD and Berith is just a guy in soldiers clothing and a crown, basically I haven't tackled the demons who really do have monstrous or wtf forms like Buer XD I'm sticking to the animal ones for now. Drawing humanoid or even pretty boys is also more a preference *though some demons such as Sitri take on the forms of beautiful men so I'll argue that with anyone that thinks they should look ugly and monstrous 24/7* maybe someday I can draw true form stuff even Belial would be interesting because there's a lot you can think up with '2 angels' and 'chariot of fire' but in Malphas case that would be just a crow or a guy with a crows head lol.
Also I'm not an expert demonology is more of a casual interest to me =w=b just annoying having to defend your interpretations because it doesn't bend to stereotype
