“I am honestly dumbfounded that this worked!” Fliz exclaimed as she looked herself over. Her scales had turned cherry red and a thick mop of black hair sprouted between her now straightened horns. “I’ve never been this warm before without feeling like I’m dying.” “You’re not alone there.” said Vliticus, “I never thought I could handle being this cold without my winter fur. This is crazy.” “That’s probably the best part about being a frost dragon.” Fliz giggled. Vliticus nodded in agreement as he also took in his new appearance. His yellow hair had vanished, and a thick white mane hung over both sides of his neck. His horns now curled down and around ears which had shrunk at least twice from their original size. Sky blue scales covered his entire body, the change even transferring smoothly to his wing membranes. The fan of feathers on the end of his tail were replaced with a tuft of long white fur. “Hopefully everything went well with Drex’s transformation.” Fliz said worriedly. “Ye-ello!” Both dragons turned to watch Drex emerge from his chamber, practically gliding across the cave floor with his movements and grinning from ear to ear. His appearance hadn’t changed too much. His scales were now yellow and long tassels of hair hung from the ends of his ears. Blond hair had replaced his usual black while grey feathers adorned the end of his tail. “Dude, you’re a balloon. It’s ridiculous how light I feel. No wonder you can fly so fast.” Vliticus laughed, little clouds of frost puffing from his mouth. “Oh you’ll get used to it. Have you tried blowing yet?” Drex looked over his shoulder with a little grimace. “Oh yeah. I gotta straighten some things up in my room when we’re done. I-uh, kinda knocked some stuff over.” Once they finished laughing, Fliz gently nudged the yellow dragon. “Well then Vli-I mean Drex, what’s your estimation on how long it will take humans to determine which one of us is which?” Drex stopped playing with his ear tassels and sat upright. “If we go up to people together, we could probably keep them guessing for a few minutes. Longer if we meet people individually. Our voices might give us away, but that’s fine.” The blue dragon began to laugh to himself, drawing the attention of his siblings. “I don’t know what would be funnier. If we keep acting like ourselves, or if we try to act like each other?” “Dudes’ got smarts.” Drex stated thoughtfully. “But that applies to how we speak, how we move, everything needs to be spot-on or the illusion just falls apart.” Fliz slowly turned to the yellow dragon, grinning out the side of her mouth the way Drex usually did when he was planning something mischievous, and wiggled her eye ridges at him. “Oh you’re gonna regret agreeing to that idea. Prepare for embarrassment then dear brother.” “Perfect! So then I need to be more skittish and jumpy.” “I’m not jumpEEE!” Vliticus flinched when Drex suddenly jerked forward, partially unfolding his wings like he was going to pounce on his brother before sitting back down. Drex shifted his gaze between his siblings and chuckled as he refolded his wings. “Does that count as scaring yourself?”
