Actually Plague Doctors were real! They began roaming the lower parts of Europe during 1300s and there were 18 of them! 5 of them died of the plague,12 ran away or went missing and only 1 was left alive and didnt run away!

I think SCP - 049 is the concentrate negative emotions of Plague Doctors that manifested into a living creature that only has the desperate desire to try to cure people even tho it's hurting them

I think they cured a few of them without using lethal measurements! However i cant be to sure since wikipedia doesnt say much about them
