Description Watercolor painting of a tropical frog.

On this one, I like the really intense coloring... and again I'm thinking about a frog terrarium... *sigh* but then, we've already got so many animals to care for, and despite the new apartment still not enough room for a zoo. A shame!

Sorry about the blathering, I'll throw in some more useful informations: painted on HahnemΓΌhle watercolor paper using Schmincke-colors. Reference photo: Β© Sascha Burkard, fotolia

I just featured this painting in an article on great realistic watercolor paintings!

Fantastic Realistic Watercolors! ~ October SpecialOctober 12, 2015
Since I am attempting to teach myself watercolors, I decided as my first journal since coming back to DA in several years would be highlighting the wonderful traditional realistic watercolor artists here on DA! I have chosen paintings made with watercolor paints as well as watercolor pencils as long as the pencils were also made wet with a brush.
Show these artists your love by faving their pictures and leaving a comment.

Some animals are born to be models, I suppose Reptiles and amphibians don't mind to sit still, while other critters you can only capture a) on a photo or b) sleeping But in fact I mostly work with a life sketch and many many reference photos, since I'm kind of obsessed with, ahm, say *interested in* details

Thank you so much! The colors really "pop out" on this, although it's kind of small (10x15cm).
