At the old harbor of Corfu...
Where everything is unveiled and covered at the same time...
Island of dead and island of alive, at the same time...

I post the comment of for this painting as I find it very descriptive to the content of it
"I love the detail, textures, light, composition actually i love the whole lot. I think this is one of favorite works of yours. White is powerful tone, it shows a lack of something, lack of life, for me it is color of mourning, because it at least to me symbolizes of something that is missing that is not there any more. I like how you keep the flow of the cloth not only wrapping the building and the figure but also the white sheets on balcony... For me a death comes from the sea and takes ones to sea, same way the figure comes, same way that the cloth ends. Even though on surface the sky sets the light feeling, the darkness is underneath hidden, same way we hide our true faces, our emotions, who we truly are. It creeps up shows at times, but still gets hidden behind beautiful facades. Keep it up!"

Now this is a good picture. Basically it could be taken as a symbolist painting, with the impossibleness of the situation and with the hint's towards BΓΆcklin.

On the other hand, thanks to contemporary landscape artists, the Christos especially, the situation is hardly surreal anymore. City blocks have been wrapped in linen, and people wearing white clothing that covers them whole is nothing extraordinary to us, thanks to a well publicised Middle East. Thus you have painted a realist symbolist work.
A favourite definetly!

Agree in all points... Although Christos and Middle East were the last things that may have passed my mind when I painted it...
Thanks... Much appreciated comment!!!

Hello Sir,

I donΒ΄t want to write much about the motive and composition of this piece as thereΒ΄s nothing one could add to sbaraciΒ΄s comment. However two little (if not tiny) details caught my eye. The first was the rock underneath the houses. For me they look so organic, almost like a figure bent over, with the fundament of the houses on its back. The second was this tiny white spot in the far background. It simply makes me wonder what might be there the other side of the water. And as itΒ΄s white and bright like the figure in the front it draws a mystical line between the fore and background. These are two little details that make this painting special for me.
I just thought I might share my thoughts with you.

Good night

Felix

oh my..... This is outstanding. One should only see it in full view, to better see all the details, all the light, everything Excellent painting. Lovely work. One can feel the perfume of the atmosphere, and the smell of the sea on the rocks. The architectures are great. Bravissimo. You live in Athens ? you lucky, with the four "cariatidi" !!! send them my love !! I used to play in front of them when I was small !!

I'm speechless. This is just beautiful. We all hide the darkness within ourselves and hope that noone finds it, because if they do we will be seen/viewed very differently. Amazing work.

This is one of your best images and the white clothes on the woman and the white sheets just bringing out the new life what came from the dark. White a powerful meaning..so clear, so unspoilt. We all come from the dark of the see...(Amniotic fluid) to get rapped in clean white sheets.
That's why I love Greece so much...the white houses, the blue ocean and the history is even much greater than Socrates ever thought it would be
