It's funny, but when I first watched "Joker's Favor" (Harley's very first appearance) as a 12-year-old kid, I thought Harley was supposed to be a black woman before she took off her clown face. I completely overlooked her blue eyes and focused on those black lips; Harley looked almost like a reverse minstrel, like a black woman in "whiteface." I still think a black actress would make a fine Harley. Even her "Puddin' " catchphrase sounds like something a naΓ―ve Southern black girl would say.
