It's a shame they didn't do more with her. I mean, other than the fact that she was probably the only nice person to Shadow what else did Maria say or do to make him focus on her for a while? They missed a good chance to build sympathy for Shadow and Maria...
I agree. She was obviously really important to Shadow and there should've been more art of her. The bad thing is I'm not really good with human faces and I spent a lot of time on her face...I still don't like what I've done with her. She doesn't look as sweet and innocent here as she does in other art and/or media...

Thanks and the Shadow game was horrible. I'm ashamed that his story was so screwed up. There wasn't even a true ending! It had multiple endings and the whole game felt like just an excuse to add guns to a Sonic-based game. Such a pathetic waste of money...
...But somewhere in the darkest, farthest sections in my mind and heart I liked parts of the game.

lol I still find reasons to like it. There was a lot of potential hidden in it but the developers' hearts just weren't in it.
