Description Minas Tirith
The most immediate response to the atrocities of war might be a picture of the battlefield, forever scarred with rotten corpses, or the expressions of soldiers, seemingly marching to their death; however, depicting such ghastly images does not portray my response to combat. It is indeed true that war does create a shroud of darkness that consumes both sides that partake in a fight; soldiers are instilled with a fear of death and the strict discipline of military officers. However, I have decided to illustrate the beauty of the world and the great monuments that man can construct during times of peace; the city in the picture is the great Minas Tirith, otherwise known as the City of Kings. This was the very location where the battle of Middle Earth took place, and the devastating effects of war can be seen in the movie as well as Tolkien’s frank description of the seige of Minas Tirith. The destruction of such a magnificent city is directly due to war, and ruining the splendor of not only man’s creations but nature as well, can only be stopped with the abolishment of war.
