It is rather sad that Guzzlord's offensive stats are merely average at best. When you look at how huge Guzzlord is, you would think that it would be a major beast in the physical attack department. I mean, imagine if Guzzlord had the following base stat spread...
- HP: 223
- Attack: 167
- Defense: 53
- SP ATK: 13
- SP DEF: 53
- Speed: 61
- Total: 570
Not so weak now, or at least in terms of physical attack usage; special attack usage becomes non-existent.

Makes this even more awkward because now Pheromosa is considered Uber now. Which is understandable considering it's speed and coverage. Plus with moves like Quiver Dance and roost giving it both a decent recovery AND boosting it's already ridiculous speed and special stats, all you have to do is make sure it lives through the first turn (Which is a bit difficult at times to do it's frailty.) after setting up a quiver dance and you're likely to be able to sweep the entire enemy team. (Which is something I've done before, I gave mine Bug Buzz and Focus Blast as attacking moves and slapped a life orb on it and it basically one shot everything. They weren't kidding when they called Pheromosa an Ultra BEAST!)

Those are tiers in the competitive meta of Pokemon Showdown, NU means Never Used and UU means Usually Used.

While it is unfortunate, and while I don't entirely agree with the way Smogon categorizes a Pokemon's potential by tier ranking. It's kind of understandable why Guzzlord is not in OU with all the other Ultra Beasts.Β
Guzzlord's got super high HP (the third highest of any Pokemon), but its got mediocre defense stats. Essentially, its very much like Blissey or Chansey (but unlike them, it's got much higher offensive stats, so it can function as an offensive attacker). But what's keeping from being in OU is primarily with Guzzlord's typing. Dragon/Dark gives it a couple of common weaknesses including a crippling x4 weakness to Fairy-types, and having mediocre defense (despite having such a high HP stat) doesn't exactly help it in any way. Sure Hydreigon has the same typing and problems as Guzzlord does and its in OU tier, but the difference is that its faster, has an ability that grants it an immunity to Ground-type moves, and has much higher offensive and defensive stats. So it is just worth using more than poor Guzzlord unfortunately.Β
Needless to say, I still love Guzzlord.Β

Actually, it's more or less a dark/dragon wigglytuff, with gigantic Hp, but awful stats elsewhere, even if the former is still more useful, and guzzlord is pu.

Also, Guzzlord lacks a reliable recovery option. All it gets is rest while Blissey and Chansey get softboiled and wish. Hell, even Hydreigon gets more reliable recovery than it in the form of roost.

Nihilego went down to UU, Pheromosa ran up to Ubers, and Buzzwole took Xurkitree to BL.
Meanwhile, Stakataka and Blacephalon have joined OU while Naganadel resides in the Uber tier with Pheromosa.
