"Oh no i'm going to be late!" You told yourself as you ran along the street watching the big hand on your clock ticking away seconds as you rushed to your meeting. Earlier that day you made sure to wake up extra early because you had a feeling that something like this would happen. And as always your intuition did not fail you. At first, your coffee machine had malfunctioned and you were unable to have your everyday dose of caffeine. Shortly after than once you had jumped into a taxi you sighed in relief thinking that nothing else could happen. You were wrong. Heavy traffic jammed the streets because of an accident on the road by your company. Restless you decided to get out there, you looked at your watch and threw some money at the driver calling out "Ill get out here!" and literally jumping out of the car and running the rest of the way. As you ran through the town dodging people and calling out "Sorry!" every time you had bumped into someone, you noticed a small crowd a few shops ahead. You thought you'd have a glance at what was going on as you ran past. What you saw made you laugh while it also confused you. There surrounded by many people, some taking pictures stood a well built man. He had pointy red hair and an angry looking face. Strangely he had a massive metal arm which he could freely move. You stood and admired his scarred body and the odd pirate like clothes he wore. What scared you the most were the weapons at his side. An old fashioned pistol and a sword. You thought they must be toys and he was some kind of a, what the call a 'cosplayer'. You remembered that you had a meeting to run to and took off again leaving random yells of "Where's my ship!?" Or "Which fucker dared to pull this fucking prank?!" behind. 'I must say, he's a good actor.' you thought as you sprinted the last 500 meters to your company.

You worked at a book publishing company and you were the editor to a new book series called 'Demon Blood' which was a story about pirates. Even after running all the way to the building you were still 10 minutes late. After getting scolded by your editor-in-chief you hurried onto your meeting with the author.
"I am so sorry about being so late." You apologized over and over while bowing your head repeatedly. He just smiled and chuckled.
"Its ok, i didn't have too wait that long, besides i saw what happened with the accident, it must have took a while to get here."
You sighed in relief, the author you were working with this time was very considerate (unlike some you had worked with in the past). "Right, let's get to the business. You've got the chapter with you, right?"
He nodded and handed you a bunch of papers with many words on it. You scanned the writing taking in all of the information. You had been working at this company for a long time now and so you had to learn to read fast as to not keep the authors in suspense.

After finishing all of the pages that you were handed you nodded and placed them in front of you. You crossed your arms in silence just staring at the paper. You felt the authors awkward look on you and after a while you finally said.
"Its not interesting enough." You were blunt.
He shifted uncomfortably and looked at you, not knowing what to say.
"All the previous chapters that you have shown me, there was a mystery part in it which made me want to know what was going to happen. I just don't feel that in this part."
You pointed to a sentence on the paper and so the meeting continued.
About an hour later, you had finished discussing the current chapter and asked the final question. "So whats next?" He looked at you awkwardly and started talking about what was to come later on in the story.

On your way home you walked along the dark, deserted street thinking about how to spicen things up in the story. 'Pirates are an interesting topic but how could you make something like a fictional story like that.. more lively?" You thought. That day you had dug yourself into work after your meeting and didn't realise that everyone else had already left and that it was already really late in the evening. The only reason you managed to leave was a tap on the shoulder from your editor-in-chief which made you realise it was way past home time. You looked at your feet and watched the dark tiles disappear behind you as you thought hard about the book. You focused so hard that you didn't hear the footsteps running behind you, not until you felt someone grab your shoulder bag from your shoulder and ran away ahead of you.
"Hey!" You yelled and started chasing. There was no way you would be able to catch up to him, he was fast, flying way ahead of you getting smaller and smaller. You couldn't let him take that bag, it contained important information and papers to do with your job. They were very important and you just couldn't afford to lose them. You tried picking up the pace but you were still way too slow. Panting you slowed down, your legs were shaking and you had tears in your eyes. You knew that you were 100% going to get fired for this, fired from your dream job and left unemployed. Your tears were about to roll down your cheeks, only to be stopped by someone running past you and after the thief. All you were able to catch were the red hair of the pursuer.

In no time he had managed to catch the thief and take the bag back. Threatening him with his old fashioned gun he managed to corner him who was now leaning against a wall with his hands up, terrified. You caught up to stop whatever the red haired guy was going to do.
"No stop!" you yelled and tackled the big red guy not moving him one millimeter from his spot. He looked down at you with an angry stare. You fell back a few centimeters and while still panting you said "Than- thank you, for getting my bag."
He looked at the bag, then at the thief and then at you.
"Yea i got the bag, but it's not as if i'm going to give it back."
At that moment, your life just shattered again. Today was definitely your worst day.
"Why the hell would i give it back to you? Pirates don't do that." As he spoke the original thief slipped away and disappeared into some street. "Bastard."
'A pirate.. thats it!' You looked up at him with the toughest look you could make.
"What?" He asked.
"You won't find any treasure in my bag."
"Huh?!" he looked at you in disgust.
"All that's in there is papers, just stuff i need for my job."
He didn't believe you and decided to check himself. Opening the bag he took a look inside. Papers. Papers. A pen. An apple. Oh an apple, he took that out and bit into it. You sweatdropped at his action. Then he picked up the pen and looked it over, clicking the top to see how this thing worked. Confused what it was he snapped it in half. You just stood and stared as he examined each piece of the pen.
"Huh, whatever, you don't have anything interesting in there. But i'll be taking this fruit." He huffed and threw the bag back to you.
"T- thanks.." you muttered. "I should be getting back home now." You looked down and tried to move past him. After taking a few steps ahead he called out to you again.
"Oi!"
"Y- yes?" You slowly turned around.
"Let me go with you."
"Wh- wh- what?!" You stammered.
"I don't know where my ship and crew are and i don't have anywhere to stay. And since i saved your pile of papers your indebted to me."
You sulked and cried to yourself. "Y- yes..."
