Whee! Ah, the bliss of boredom.Collab with . Started many many moons ago, on some night I cannot quite remember. More or less. Anyway, we were toying with some random ideas, and one such was "What the heck does a cockatrice look like if the basilisk is THAT BIG???" (As in, in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. It's bloody huge. I digress.) *head explodes*
Anyway, stuff, KP's been working on the lineart ever since. I helped with the people-type things. Heads mostly. And basic outlines. And stuff. We colored it today. With markers. We're hardcore. <3

To be honest, can someone clarify WHICH IS WHICH?!
I've read many different claims, and it seems the two are nearly interchangeable animals.

For the sake of this picture, a basilisk is a large magical serpent or lizard and a cockatrice is a large magical rooster/dragon thing.

But I would like to clarify some interesting points.
Basilisk/Cockatrice rumors:
1) Fear roosters, have head of rooster nonetheless. (Same with Cockatrice.)
2) Chicken egg hatched from beneath toad (same for Cockatrice.)
3) Basilisks can shapeshift.
4) Cockatrices can kill you with poison breath.
5) Both Basilisks and Cockatrices can kill at a glance.
6) Basilisks will either die from seeing their reflection in a mirror OR will attack their reflection, judging it as a threat.

Ok, now you're reading too much into it. Because we just drew it for fun, out of pure enjoyment for ourselves, and not as an accurate representation of a mythological animal.
Just see it as, oh, Harry's about to get torched by a giant flaming chicken. And Ron is an armadillo. Yay!

Beeehehehe. Unfortunately mine is in the Cuaron colors, but I like to refer to them as Navy and Platinum. XD Then again, I like to call colors by interesting names.
Examples:
Crimson and Gold, Emerald and Silver, Navy and Platinum, Sulfur and Onyx. XD
