Here's my friend Ana and her badass team

About her own backstory:

She was born and raised in Pomeljana city (Heliantheae canton) in Altoh region. The city is very well-known in the Pokeworld for its studs of wild Ponytas and its legends - it is said that the city was built on the grave of an ancient dragon Pokemon which the founder of the city slayed to save his people. These are the reasons why most starters are Ponytas or in rare and exceptional cases - dragon-type Pokemons.

Ana is different from your average Pokemon trainer because she doesn't consider herself as one and actually hates the whole so-called "business" of catching Pokemons and pushing them into battles in order to become a Pokemon Master - what she perceives as a selfish human ambition. Very much like Ines, she'd rather befriend them in the wild; she also refuses to get involved in any kind of Pokemon battles, or only in absolute necessity - while defending other people or Pokemons.

She's vegan and refuses for example to use or eat anything from Pokemons (eggs, meat, fish), except what is labelled as "Pokéfriendly", which means - what Pokemons entirely agreed to provide (e.g fruits and vegetables planted or watered by Pokemons, farms where Pokemons are free to give what they produce, without being forced to by their owners).

Right now she's finishing her studies at the Pokeacademy of Pomeljana where she specializes in Pokémons rights and healing. She's also very active in environmental protection and raising awareness on trainers' abusive behaviour. She's been very influenced through her life by N's philosophy and life-story and tries to live up as his example; nevertheless, she's fully aware that his ambitions have been twisted by Team Plasma's evil goals decades ago and this is the reason why she has a more moderate opinion and doesn't wish to liberate Pokemons from Humanity nor have separate worlds for Humans and Pokemons. She rather promotes a better understanding and harmony between Humans and Pokemons to prevent any dramatic situations.

With those convictions, she'll straight come help her friends during the war between Pokemons and Humanity initiated by Team Rocket² happening later in the story.

Now about her Pokemons:

When Ana was old enough to acquire her first Pokemon, she was very upset about the idea and attempted more than once to release her Ponyta free. However she eventually acknowledges Ponyta's affection and loyalty and decides to keep it. Ponyta is the only one she keeps in a Pokeball since it evolved into a Rapidash and is now too big to fit into her house. It's probably her strongest and most loyal Pokemon.

Gyarados isn't officially hers and is still living in the wild, but it sure is there whenever she needs help. They've actually known each other for a very long time; when she was around 13, she saved a Magikarp from a group of sadistic kids torturing it by the river Pomeljanica. After using Ponyta to chase them away, she put Magikarp back into the river and came feeding it with sandwiches everyday (she'd usually sit by the river during lunch). A year after, one day, Ana was surprised to be welcomed by a huge Gyarados waiting patiently for food (making Ana wonder what her mother put into her sandwiches to enable a Pokemon to evolve that fast and so strongly).

Smeargle is a Pokemon artist living in the streets of Pomeljana and asking for food in exchange of sharing its art. Ana's very admirative of its works and will defend it against the city mayor, annoyed and angry by what he calls "degradation of historical buildings". Grateful for Ana's act of kindness, Smeargle is always there to lend a hand... Or join Piplup and Wooper in bullying Granbull.

Piplup and Wooper form an indestructible duo of thug Pokemons living on the streets and doing mischiefs; most of the time they steal food from people before running back to the river and sharing their loot. Witnessing their attempt to steal from her, Ana will scold them and throw them back to the river. Angry, they decide to get revenge but are caught in the act by Gyarados and Banette. Believing they'll be punished in some sort, Ana offers them, surprisingly, to share her lunch, not without moralizing them and explaining that to live in a better world, Humans and Pokemons should respect each other (and that it isn't meant to be one-sided). They agree and learn their lesson, deciding to work to earn food - they later become Smeargle's assistants and Granbull's worst nightmare.

Last but not least - Granbull. Granbull is actually the family's Pokemon. As promised to Ana's parents ("take care of Ana when we're away !"), it seems its sole mission in life is to keep an eye on Ana at all costs, no matter the danger or dreadful situations. Despite its reluctance Granbull is always ready to put itself into the worst kind of situations in order to protect its owners' daughter (it saved her many times although she never noticed) and is definitely taking everything way too seriously and to a level way to high for its own good. Another cause for Granbull obvious soon-to-occur ulcer is Smeargle, Piplup and Wooper's obsession in using it as a canvas. Granbull is rather desperate in trying to talk (or bark) some sense into Ana's or her Pokemon to make them respect its authority but blatantly failing everytime.
Nonetheless Ana often shows Granbull great tenderness and sincere affection, so it doesn't feel too lonely.
