Weirdly enough, I haven't seen the Jirachi or Deoxys ones yet, but for some reason I feel the Jirachi one has always been one of my most favorites, despite knowing so little about it! I completely agree with you, the Manaphy one was beautiful too ;-; I really liked that they focused on May and Max and their relationship with Manaphy and Jirachi, it was so charming!

Oh of course, they did it so well, and in different ways, too. The Hoenn Pokemon movies were the only ones that actually got me to cry. Not even when Ash was turned to stone in The First or when Pikachu "died" in Diance. Lucario was the first one that genuinely moved me, then Jirachi, then Manaphy... It definitely had the best movies in my book. You should totally see Jirachi Wish Maker if you haven't already, you don't get the full experience without watching it.
I don't know what people are talking about when they say the show started going bad in Hoenn. I think it was a little ways into Sinnoh that it started downhill.

I cannot agree more, I don't even remember crying with the first movie back in the day either.
I haven't seen the Diancie one yet, I'll be watching it in two weeks when they release it on tv here, but the recent movies have been pretty bland I don't expect anything out of them anymore... What's the point of making a main character die if we know they won't die OTL I'm also kinda tired of them throwing ten legendaries and their shiny counterparts in one movie, it feels like shiny legendaries are more common than regular ones wat

Hoenn was the best for me!! I can't love it enough. Sinnoh saga was pretty lacking and I disliked it for the most part, I couldn't even watch an episode without cringing... In fact, I resumed watching it by the time Ash arrived Sunyshore. The movies were pretty bad too (I only enjoyed the Darkrai one). I tried really hard to like Sinnoh but I could never stand seeing Dawn or seeing how they ditched Brock every episode and how poorly it was handled overall... They never did justice to how beautiful and rich those games were.

Edit: sorry this got ranty and negative >< but I didn't want to sound like I hate the thing bc I don't, just that i could have been a lot better!

The only reason I like the Sinnoh anime at all is actually because embarrassingly enough it was actually the first region of the anime I watched. DX I kinda had low standards back then, but that's the one that was airing. Rewatching it, I really only like the first episode. I wish they'd have kept the bike gag going in Unova and Kalos... And yeah, buckets of legendaries in each movie is definitely not good. The movie's called Kyurem, darn it, I didn't come here to see Keldeo! The art direction in the new movies is really nice though. Some really cool and beautiful scenes. If nothing else, you can watch for the pretty colors. I do really like the shiny legendaries (for the most part) but seeing them in the anime is really off-putting. I thought there was only one of each legendary...? How are there more than one then? Am I just stupid...? Oh and the thing with the Mega Mewtwo confused me even more than that. I wish they'd explain things.
Yeah, the kill-characters-that-obviously-aren't-gonna-stay-dead thing is something that I really don't like. It's just there for the kids (Oh no, not Pikachu! Piiiikaaaaachuuuuu!!), but still.

I like very specific episodes from Sinnoh myself, mainly when my favorite characters make an appearance, haha (like gymleaders, Elite4, Champion, Barry, Conway...). I think at that time they aimed to an even younger target, hence all the jarring colors and bubbly and repetitive stories/overused formulas... I feel they were trying out something that didn't quite work. It changed DRASTICALLY when BW came out, it felt so fresh.
There's no shame in liking or disliking any saga, though! Memories and feelings play an important role when it comes to things you like or dislike. Even if something is 'bad' to others, it may be the best thing to you because of the way you particularly saw it and your own particular emotional attachment. That's why I find it interesting talking about this and reading different points of view!
(I seriously felt I was being overly negative earlier and I didn't mean to sound like a grouchy old hag ;

And indeed, the art direction for the movies improved immensely over the years, but it's a shame the script didn't... I do watch the movies for the beautiful art, but I wished the stories were as well thought and neat!
I'm so eager to watch the Diancie movie because I loved the trailers!!

And the shiny legendaries thing.. I will never understand, and they will never explain. Sometimes it's just promotion for game downloads but they have been abusing it's getting a little annoying (Shiny legendary beasts that served no purpose?? shiny Genesect just for the sake of it? SHINY MEGA RAYQUAZA TOO OP FOR THIS WORLD?? wasn't it the same if they used regular legendaries?).
And I don't even want to get started on the whole Megaevolution thing, I feel there's no much explanation behind it... devs just wanted to boost competitive battling and give Steven a reason to be relevant again+a reason for players to do something new with their old Pokemon. Sometimes I wish I was blind to the marketing tactics so I could enjoy things nonchalantly OTL and I'm not even that critical with stuff in general, but when it's SO obvious... ughh!! ;;

The Shiny Genesect didn't bother me so much because we saw in that movie that there was more than one of them, and the shiny red one was the leader. Other than that, the beasts were probably definitely just to promote the downloadable ones in HGSS (I got Suicune!) and everything else... is just there for the sake of being there.
I'll admit right now that the only movies I really like are Lucario, Jirachi and Manaphy. I also like Darkrai and Zoroark was kinda cool... in a way... but everything else I just don't like as much. The only movie from Kanto/Johto I really enjoyed was Unown (not just because I totally love Entei) and, as previously stated, the newer movies are just kinda... lacking. Oh, and (spoiler... kinda?) they literally dump almost half of the Kalos legendaries into Diance and the Cocoon of Destruction, which I understand why they did it, but who the heck is gonna be in the next movie? Rayquaza? Probably Rayquaza.
