My interpretation of a simplified billiard setno more white circles for the numbers
and why can't we have a more stylized fonts for the numerics?
anyway, just a thought rendered overnight

A lovely rendering, nicely detailed reflection work and wonderfully stylish set of pool balls... obviously for the more affluent player.

nope, it is 3dsmax only with vray renderer, not the native mental ray renderer

just your basic bitmap mask map in the diffuse channel
didn't even add any custom uvw mapping,
just use 2x tile on the texture latitude (square bitmap)
or use a 2:1 proportioned bitmap.
the rest is photoshop
