Finished June 16, 2016 and made with colored pencils with white gel pen for highlights.

Hey, my scanner didn't mess up the colors that much, hooray!
This is a drawing heavily inspired by TheLTrain's 50 minute symphonic metal opera, Fall of an Empire , which I listened to a LOT while working on this. I love it because it gives King Sombra a much needed backstory, and it's a romance that ends badly, my kind of thing. XD

As for the drawing, I had the idea just spring on me when I was at the park with my sister. I was just hanging out on the swings staring at the sky when it hit me, and I was like , I knew I had to draw it as soon as I got home. Overall, the drawing took a few weeks, I think. I'm trying to record the date I started as well as the date I finished, but as you can see, I'm not doing so great. XD

I own nothing but the artwork. King Sombra and the crystal soldiers are from the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
