An interesting character design, this one. ^_^
Care to enlighten me a little as to the story and purpose concerning this particular individual?

Well, Buni, was actually an original character created by that ended up in both our works. I ended up changing her character design quite a bit, giving her lopp bunny ears and splashes of different colors to even out her design. We were surprised how much we liked her, so we use her in a lot of our works, and actually, i've made the first chapter in a manga that includes her...we aren't positive about the title yet, but it's in the works. As soon as I find the originals, I will be finishing that first chapter and putting it up on DA for some feedback. It's mainly about these two girls who end up being roommates in college through some very strange events. It's about how they deal with each other and take care of one another. Despite how that sounds, it's pretty much a comedy of epic proportions, lol, and i'm sure that there will be refs to SSPKJC as well.

Yes, I vaugely remember that being mentioned somewhere before. Wasn't she origionally part of some sort of collaberation project or something?

It sure is interesting how much characters change over time. I always find it amazing to look back ant my older characters, and see just how unrecognisable their older incarnations are. ^_^

I hope you manage to dig out those origionals. I'd be interested to see this, not to mention just plain curious to see how your art would transfer into comic format. There are a lot of wacky room-mate comics arround already, but I'm sure you can put a fresh spin of it. I have faith in your abilities. ^_^

I'm not really sure how you would work a SSPKJC reference into a college room-mate comic, but I guess that's half the fun in itself. ^_^

goddamn! oh yeah, and this isn't your typical college roommate comic. besides, i'd be curious to know which ones you are speaking about O_o? But yeah, they live cross-campus from Dwayne in this as well, lol. So they have that to deal with later on. Let's see what kinds of trouble they can get into, lol.

Sadly there's too many to really list. It's one of the big cliched webcomic steriotypes, along with gamer comics. ( which are ironically, generally also wacky room-mate comics, with the emphesis on the gaming "humour". ) Obviously stuff like Roomies, College room mates from Hell and Queen of Hearts would be good examples, I assume. They're not really the sort of comic I actually read, but I am aware of their existance none the less... The only wacky roommate I ever really read are Krakow and Octopuspie, which are both pretty amusing in places.

I've never heard of those XD lol. Perhaps over here sitcoms would be the best way to describe it. (only it's not college roommates, it's people living together). Keep in mind that WHATEVER your story is about you're going to have something cliche in there unless you're making a story about talking teapots...oh nevermind that's been done...ok...story about a sponge...oh that's been done too...story about a comic book that comes alive....that's been done before, too...story about....GODDAMNIT, SEE EVERYTHING'S TAKEN! LOL! And that's my point. Besides that even... people live with people, people go to college, people have roommates, people have jobs, friends, pets...you can't really get away from that sort of thing unless you don't include people at all (which i do not wish to do). It's how you approach a story that's different. What you include, how the characters look, and what happens to them, what point of view you have.

Think about your own work, for instance...sure, perhaps you have a little something unique...but upon further inspection and if you put it the way you're saying my comic is, all you're doing is steampunk. Been done before. You're taking pre-existing fashions and re-creating them in a comic book illustration style similar to both anime and American comic book styles (not familiar with English influences there), some of which includes historical figures (which again, has been done before). All of which might be considered cliche. All I'm saying is that you can do this with anything. The stuff that makes you unique is the combo of everything here-by listed. Perhaps the dialogue. Perhaps it is from the point of view of an inanimate object that is "watching" things unfold in a room. Etc etc etc, and so on and so forth.

I'd look them up. They're some of the big names in the webcomic world.

The term "cliche" can't really be applied in those contexts. Something doesn't have to be totally new, to not be a cliche. You don't have to be sponge teapots who are in a comic and come alive and chase traphic wardens with rubber hoses to be origional, you just have to avoid walking down the over-trodden paths. For example, if you wrote a fantasy story, then that's, in principle, ok. If you wrote a story about a fantasy setting with generic elves, dwarves, orcs, under-dressed female warriors and wizards with pointy hats and long white beards, then that would be cliche. Likewise, a horror story isn't necasarily cliche just because people have written horror stories before, but it is cliche if it's full of generic vampires, werewolves, zombies etc...

As you said, real people do those things, but that doesn't really make it any less cliche. Think about it. The traditional family sitcom, with mom, dad and the kids. The "father knows best" clone. You have the well meaning wife, the slightly dumb husband, the slightly mischevous kids, the annoying neightbours. Now that's one of the biggest cliche's out there. It's real people, in real situations, but that doesn't make it any less cliche.

I think you're sort of missing what I was saying here. A setting by itself isn't cliche, it's only what you do with it. since you brought up steampunk, let's continue to use that as an example. Steampunk is simply a genra, nothing more. Sure it can be chiched, but there are specific routs to that. Throw in a spunky girl inventor, giant walking humanoid robots, goggles, cybernetic limbs and gamma ray blasters and you have a steampunk cliche. I don't think I've used any of those.
Pre-existing fasions isn't really a valid point, since everything is, to a certain extent, based on pre-existing fasions. If frock coats and top hats are cliche, then so are tousers, skirts, dresses and shoes. They are all just as based on real world fashions, so by that logic, unless you're entier cast walks arround naked, ( Which is probably more cliched, given then number of "Let's draw everyone naked" artists there are on DA ) you're already taking pre existing-fasions and re-creating them.
As for historical figures, I think you've lost me there? When exactly did I ever use historical figures?

As you say, everything has some links to something else that's been done before, but that's ok. Just because something uses real people, doesn't make it a cliche. It's not a case of "Hah, your comic has people in it. People with two legs and two arms. That's so cliche!" Like wise, it's certainly accetable for characters to have jobs, fall in love, fight other people etc... There is a line drawn somewhere between what is cliche'd and what isn't. It's debatable exactly where it is, but some things are obviously on one side or the other.

I'm not saying you can't, or that you should, do it. I'm just saying that the wacky college roommates idea is one of the most cliched out there. You may take it in a totally new direction, that remains to be seen, I'm just saying that it's something that's been done a lot, especially on the internet. It's like if you said you were going to do a comic about two guys who sit on their couch, playing video games. I'm not saying you'd do it badly, I'm just saying that lots of people have done it before.

Sure, everything has, to a certain extent been done before, but the term "cliche" really is reserved for things which has been done before far to often.
