Was gonna draw my pokemon last night but got lazy and decided just to draw Emma. <3 Zangoose has been my favorite pokemon (aside from cheating and saying all the eevees) since I laid eyes on it.

Every one of my pokemon teams across my various games have personalities and whatnot enough to be considered fan characters, but the ones from my Ruby game are special; that one was a Nuzlocke Run. (for those who don't know; pokemon hard mode. you can only catch the first pogey in each area and when they faint, they DIE and cannot be used ever again.)

My original team consisted of Ticker the Marshtomp, Deus the Taillow, StrngeFood the Oddish, Coyoto the Mightyena, Pillow the Linoone, and Trip the Breloom.

Ticker was killed by a Doduo using pursuit. (I cursed a lot.) Onion the Numel replaced him. StrngeFood went next; Gas Man the Koffing replaced her. Gas Man didn't last long; Flick the Sandslash replaced her (yes, Gas Man was a she). Somewhere along the line Deus was lost. Onion was lost also; and that's when I caught Emma.

I was so ecstatic that I found a Zangoose and not a stupid Spinda. Like dancing around my room ecstatic.

So at this point my team consisted of Flick, Pillow, Coyoto, Trip, and Emma. I was just reaching the point where you fight Maxie at the volcano. I'd been grinding for hours even though it was dull as rocks. I stocked up on items. And then I went to battle.

The battle with Maxie lasted for I believe it was an hour and a half. Despite my grinding I was too impatient to really level up like I needed, and my team was still 2-3 levels below Maxie's. I was doing well though.

Then I lost Trip. A stupid miscalculation on the amount of damage he'd take. I had to shrug it off and keep going. I wasn't about to lose this battle and have to erase my save file.

Then Coyoto fell. Critical hit.

Flick went down next. Another stupid miscalculation.

Pillow died, too.

I'm not going to lie to you guys; I cried.

It came down to Emma and two of Maxie's pokemon. I was healing every other turn practically, barely getting in hits; that's part of why the battle ended up taking so long in the long run. I was terrified at this point, almost hoping that I'd lose the battle since I'd lost almost my entire beloved team. And I didn't really have any hope for winning.

But Emma pulled through; striking criticals on almost every turn that she was able to attack. She beat down Maxie's last pokemon and at the end of the battle she had TWO HIT POINTS LEFT. I know it makes no difference but my God if I didn't truck it right to the pokecenter.

Emma has yet to lose a battle; she still stands as the leader of my team. She has since been joined by many pokemon, and has seen many pass. Fillet the Magikarp was the first to join after that battle; none of the others lasted long enough to remain in my memory. Fillet recently passed while I was training. I never thought I'd love a Gyrados that much.

My team now stands at Byron the Lairon, Jenna the Linoone, Stella the Grumpig, Sweep the Absol, and Emma. I've been grinding for the last couple months in preparation for the Elite Four. Its tedious and I don't go back to it as often as I should; but I'm going to beat this game even if it takes me another year.

Because I am not giving up. Not after everything that team has been through. It'd be disrespectful to the memories of everyone if I stopped trying.
