Ha ha - love the clods of wet sand hurtling out behind. My dog's best 'trick' is rolling on crickets and breaking their big legs off them before play-biting them to death. Nature is cruel.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Applemac12 In reply to MayEbony [2013-04-10 03:24:56 +0000 UTC]

It's my fav part of the pic too! Thank you so much for mentioning it May!
Oh no poor crickets! Fortunately Moose wouldn't hurt a fly!

Marley chases those too, despite having to be rushed to the vets a while ago because she'd swallowed 4 bees. She was in a terrible state and had to be injected with anti-histamines and steroids (I think it was). We know how many bees because she kindly threw them up in my lap while waiting for the vet to see her. While I was the vet was fishing through interestedly to find the problem. At least 2 of the bees had used their stingers. And she still chases bees, and has swallowed 1 more since, so we have to only allow her access to the area under the patio where there are no flowers. She's a wonderful, beautiful idiot

Oh dear! Mom used to have a dog that like to bite bees too and learnt the hard way! Some dogs never learn huh!

MayEbony In reply to Applemac12 [2013-04-11 01:53:42 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, we just have to be her brains for her I hope your Mum's dog didn't suffer too often?

Aww good for you May! No he learnt pretty quickly actually!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MayEbony In reply to Applemac12 [2013-04-11 04:02:51 +0000 UTC]

Oh that's a relief - I was hoping it hadn't finished him off. I thought Marley was a gonner after the 4 bees incident. I didn't even know why she was foaming at the mouth and struggling to breath until after we got to the vet. Flew out of the house with wide open windows and the door (within the garage, but to the house) had swung open and I left it that way.

Animals can be so resilient like that! I had a part time school job as a vets assistant and saw some animals in horrendous states but they do manage to bounce back!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MayEbony In reply to Applemac12 [2013-04-12 02:14:11 +0000 UTC]

Oh gosh, I could never do that. When I see any person or animal in pain I'm a wreck. I truly respect anyone that can be of use during times like that
My school holiday job was working in a dog kennel though, funnily enough. All they needed was food, as much love as I had time to give them, and mucking out It was a residential job and I did take one little fella on long walks - he was a permanent resident, poor little lad.

It's sad when they don't make it! I was a lot more tougher then and I don't think I could do it now!

Aww that's sweet! My mother works part time at a kennel too - she just loves dogs!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MayEbony In reply to Applemac12 [2013-04-12 08:20:59 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I think I've gotten more sensitive as I've got older too. Having children increased my sensitivity - as if I wasn't a basket case already! And having grandchildren has made me worse still!
I think doggy love makes the world go around. If more humans were like dogs the world would be a better place. Probably lol

I'm so very, very sorry to hear that There are some horrible people in the world and it's so sad when gentle people get conned by them. Maybe you *will* meet the right person when the time is right. I do hope so!

And thank you dear Vin

Applemac12 In reply to MayEbony [2013-04-23 03:43:17 +0000 UTC]

Sadly the more gentle we are the more of a target we are for violent and abusive people!
Thank you so much for your kindness May! You are such a lovely girl!

and my pleasure indeed dear May!

MayEbony In reply to Applemac12 [2013-04-23 05:10:15 +0000 UTC]

You got that in one. I've been a target more times than I can count too. There really are some bullies around who love to prey on gentle souls

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Applemac12 In reply to MayEbony [2013-04-23 05:23:47 +0000 UTC]

I think all kind people have at one point or another which is sickening really!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MayEbony In reply to Applemac12 [2013-04-23 07:09:57 +0000 UTC]

I know. It says more about the bullies than us gentle folk, but we still do the suffering and that's so rough on a gentle soul who is honestly all but helpless to defend themselves in a manner that the bully will take notice of. I don't think there's a solution except to recognise them fast and stay out of their way
