Description EDIT: I changed the proportion of the head/shoulders/bust, and also added shadows on her left side. I think it looks a bit better now.  :'D

Started as a doodle at the beach..and somehow became this o < o
I tried new lighting and shading techniques, I'm really proud of how it came out! ; v ;

Critiques welcome and encouraged!

the color and lighting is good, but anatomy and proportion is always basic, learn more about them apple, u can learn by sketching (just lineart) like 10 pcs of full figure human each day and maybe look up some anatomy tutorial

Thank you! I will practice.

May I ask which parts are out-of-proportion? So I know which to practice the most.

Thanks!
The head actually was bigger, but I made it smaller because I wanted it to be a perspective shot - which didn't really work. I might resize it and reupload.

I really like the warm colors and the mood it emits. A lot of people tend to forget that, but I like how you brought it up well^^
Also the textures you gave to the steps and the clothes are impressive.

Thank you! I haven't really done an image where I play around with the lighting too much. I know it still lacks detail but I like that I attempted xD
Thanks!

I really enjoy the piece. I'm always a fan of papery textures, so this is pretty awesome.

I feel like as far as lighting and shading goes, both could definitely be pushed more. It looks like a sunset scene, and both sunsets and sunrises are times of really powerful and dramatic lighting. So, if you have the time, it might be fun to play around with that. :3 As far a s the technique behind the lighting and shading, I do enjoy it. ^^The colors are nice and warm, and you get your point across.

Though I'm not sure I have the ability to point you in the right direction, the perspective feels a bit off to me. She's leaning in such a way that the foreshortening of her body doesn't feel like it's matching up with the perspective you've established with the stairs. The composition also feels a bit centered. While sometimes centering your subject is okay, some other times it's okay to not make your main subject the center of the piece. Just scooting them over a little more to the right or left could give your composition an entirely new feel because we'd also have some space to digest background information which can be just as important. ^^

And this is my own personal opinion, but I think studying real human anatomy could really help. :3 Anime/cartoons/any abstraction stems from a comprehension of reality. So if you can accurately render the world around you, you can gain the ability to abstract the worlds you create however you choose in a fashion that makes sense to the world you're depicting. ^^

Overall, it's a good piece and I look forward to seeing more in the future. :3

She has a cute and somehow cheeky look.I also like the colors you used for this illustration.
I recommend you to practice a bit more the human anatomy, she has a very small head in contrast to her wide shoulders and legs. But it´s nevertheless a lovely work.

Thank you for the critique.

The head actually was a bit larger, I changed the proportions to make it look more like a perspective shot but I don't think it translated well
