I don't understand what you meant by "messing up" the sky- it looks good and I think that you're the only one who has a problem with that- if you were working from a reference and worked hard to make it match and failed, that I understand but it's not necessary to have something look exactly like the referenced image.
Anyway, the main focus of this piece is the two lions and they are magnificent indeed.
