Vietnamese fairy tales: Peacock and Crow.

"Once upon a time, both Peacock and Crow were best friends and they shared the same feather color, grey. They knew they were ugly so they didn't appear in front of other birds. One day, Crow stole some brushes and colors from a human artist and told Peacock:" We could paint our feathers to look beautiful!". Thanks to Crow's talent, Peacock was painted beautifully. Now it's Peacock's turn to paint his friend. Unfortunately, he was clumsy and didn't know how to paint. Peacock painted slowly and Crow was getting more and more impatient.

Later, a white bird flew by and told Crow:" We must fly to the east! A war happened there and it left many cadavers for us to eat! If we don't hurry, the human will bury all of them!". Crow's patient had run out, he told Peacock to stop painting and pour a random paint bucket on him. Peacock listened to his friend and poured a black paint bucket on Crow. Crow thought he was beautiful enough so he flew away with the white bird to eat.

After Crow was done eating, he flew back home only to find out he was very ugly. His feathers were all painted in black. He got mad at Peacock and they never talked to each other again."
