11 HOURS, IT TOOK ME 4 DAYS TO MAKE A ROUGH SKETCH

So... It took you 48 hours to make a rough sketch? I kind of doubt that. Technically it took me 7 days to draw this, but I obviously wasn't working on it nonstop for that week, so if I actually add up all the hours I spent on it within those 7 days it only adds up to 11 hours of NONSTOP working. You couldn't honesty take 48 hours of NONSTOP drawing one rough sketch

Yes it is, although the way is narrow and many are led astray by false prophets. Sometimes it's hard to tell who a Christan is and who isn't because there are many that bear that name and yet have some very wrong ideas about God and have no fruit of the Holy Spirit. Be careful with those who call themselves Christan, because apparently Christianity is the biggest religion in the world and yet often it is those claiming to be Christan who are persecuting the Christians who put the Bible first. I'm an outcast amongst most Christians who call me insults and names based on my beliefs and who claim that the Bible is strone age and up to interpretation or that you can pick and choose between whatever they see fit and leave the rest. But Jesus says you will know them by their fruit. We are all sinners but the true children of God are those that are deeply aware and troubled by sin, eager to repent and be forgiven by Jesus and do not justify their own sins. I know many such people who claim to be Christians that do as the rest of the world does and in doing so, no one can tell the difference. Hmm. I hope I haven't scared you away with these warnings. Many do not know, I didn't know when I was raised in a Christian home that just because my parents said they were Christians didn't necessarily mean that they were. Now I know better and many Christians I grew up with hate me and shun me and throw insults but you can tell whose on the side of truth by testing the spirits with the Bible. Read it and study it and meditate upon it, for the Holy Spirit speaks and interprets truth rightly.
Sorry to go too deep on you when I don't know you very well. But it seems right to me that more people need to know this, because I didn't not so long ago

Aww, thanks! Don't be fainthearted, you should see some of my old drawings! They're atrocious! My recommendation is going for traditional art because there's less competition and everyone is put on the same level. No special knowledge/special effects needed, just your shading ability and knowledge of your medium. Or a mix of mediums, even cooler! Don't worry though, it took 11 hours to make this and lots of editing and fixing. I bet you could make something really amazing, that would even amaze yourself, if you put that much work just into one piece. I'm a lazy artist so I don't usually spend this much time on something but I really wanted reborn to draw me one of my characters so I put everything I had into it. It was definitely challenging, no piece of cake, but if you nitpick enough you eventually get somewhere

You flatter me too much! Especially after years of failure, this is my work after 8 years of frustration and failure, trial and error. and all I did was color it lol! I'll tell you what I learned along the way though. the more practice you get the more natural it becomes. the mouse didn't come naturally to me, I had to be resourceful and work with what I had because I didn't have a tablet and I used to have Photoshop either, so I mainly used GIMP. I ALSO had no idea how to use layers. The key is layers. That way your art remains editable the whole way through, and you can add effects to it after without wrecking it. I actually only learned how to use layers three years ago after I took graphic design in college. That's also when I got Photoshop, but Gimp works just as well. In fact, I still use GIMP sometimes for things that Photoshop sucks at, like pixel drawing and also the hand tool is way better in GIMP than on Photoshop. Basically practice makes perfect, what everyone tells you, also, learning from your failures and not giving up when it gets hard because believe me, it will always be hard to some extent. If you spent 11 hours on something I bet you it would look amazing, especially if you made it with layers so you can edit it to the best of your ability. And also, I find that texture covers up a lot of blank space. If you've done your shading and you find it's still pretty empty, different brushes and textures really help clean that up. Oh and here's something i recently learned too: don't put the same texture everywhere. Accent Specific parts and make them stand out more. For example, on a wolf, don't make the fur go everywhere unless you're shooting for realism, but it's more visually appealing to accent the fur in places like the tail, the neck, the belly, the rump, the ears, and around the eyes and perhaps it's shoulder too. Shade the rest with less texture. For shading make a new layer for every color change if your computer can handle it. Highlights goes in its own layer, shadows on another. I put outline on its own and "base color" underneath it. Skip the paint bucket tool, it's better to color it in by hand so that you can get the colours on its own layer. Or if you want, duplicate the outline, paint bucket one in and then stick it under the other outline so that you still have at least one outline on its own layer. From there you can add and subtract as much as you want. Tutorials are also really good for figuring stuff out. Use one brush only for shading so it flows better, on low opacity so you can layer it. Add texture afterwards.
But when it comes down to the computer mouse part, there's nothing i can really recommend except not having it on super sensitivity because then any slight flick of your wrist will send it flying. Best to keep it on a medium to low so you can be more deliberate with your movements. Other than that, it's getting used to it and practice that determines what you can make make with it.

Yeah I don't have a tablet unfortunately. Maybe one day. Although...I did use a tablet once in the past and actually found it harder to draw with but then again I guess it's whatever you're used to. I've been drawing with a computer mouse for 8 years so I guess I'm most comfortable with it. It's not the greatest for drawing straight lines but I find it easy enough to use for shading things.
