Kind of a personal piece for me

The real question is, what does it mean?

I guess to me it can mean a lot of things. The white ribbon kind of signifies innocence, as well as surrender. I also see it as encircling and intertwining the arm to a binding of some sort. I guess I see it as Christ's claim on a person. That person is bound to Him but it's not heavy and chaffing like chains are. It's a liberating and beautiful innocence that encircles the believer and saves them. "For His banner over me is love." (Song of Solomon 2:4) And therefore it kind of alludes to a wedding in a sense.

The flower signifies sacrifice, Christ's blood I suppose. Where blood gives life.

The pearl in the middle of the flower can signify multiple things. It alludes to Matthew 13:46 where a man finds a pearl in a field and sells all he has to have it, as he instantly recognizes its value. On another level this picture can stand for intimacy and the pearl can stand for something a little more erotic. It is personal to me because I have vaginismus and can't share in what most married couples are able to access. So I guess this picture also stands for healing and pain and hope.

The arm can either be presumed to be dead or alive, as the message remains the same. In death we are brought to life through Jesus's saving power and grace. Therefore it is both dead and alive. The gray around it presumes a dying world, but only the elements representing holy things have colour and life.

Finally the wisps of white coming off the arm allude to the soul and it is rising up to heaven.

I think this is one of my favourite pictures I've ever drawn along with this piece: Because both of them allude to a lot of symbols that are relevant in my life and they make me feel a sense of relief and hope when I look at them.
