Daww! Thank you! I actually use a whole process permanently etched into my brain! :3
Which is this!
Well anyway I just use a lot of brushes in general. I try to pick colors that look good together and designs that won't crowd the whole adoptable. I also often use dots because you can fit them in small spaces and they just give a little filler. Also, not shown on the one above, with the color of the eye, I tend to add some of that specific color into the adoptable itself. To make the adoptable more pleasing to the human eye. My inspiration isn't actually anything at all really. I pick a color I haven't done in a while and well, go from there! I pick colors and designs that match aesthetically. Another big thing is placement, you never want to place anything directly in the center of object. I try to find a focal point, the bottom, the top, the sides of the adoptable I can all use to my advantage. Yes, it may sound a bit complicated, but if you want someone to adopt, you have to make it so they like it. No one cares about what you, the creator feels about the adoptable, even though I put it anyway, they just care about a couple main things. These change from person to person. One type of person only cares about how easy to draw the adoptable is. So if you make a lot of adoptables with tons and tons of markings, you aren't going to get as many buyers. I try to limit the markings on some, and on others, I add a bit more speckles and harder to draw designs. The second type of person you may come across is the "I buy what I like" person. Who just wants the adoptable for what it looks like! Nothing else. So for that person there are a lot of factors involved also. The placing of the markings, the contrast between colors, how many markings there are, do the markings have anything to do with one another? You have to take all these things into account and more if you are aiming to get that type of buyer. And then, the third type of person is the price picker. This person wants their adoptables for cheap, or at least a fair price. When your starting off making adoptables you need to make them low, around 10-20 points. I do the ten to twenty because most people will meet in the middle, around 15. If you just set the price at 10, then you are not making as much money as you could be. But as you start to progress and make more and better looking adoptables that are selling easier, you can slowly start to raise your price. From 10-20 to 15-30 to 30-40 to 35-45. Currently I am in the 35-45 range. You also don't want to just make your price too low, like at 5 points, because even though your getting points, it is definitely not worth that whole adoptable you put a lot of effort into. Also don't use too little colors, at least 3 should do the trick, over 5 colors may get overwhelming for the buyer and decide that they don't like it. But remember, 5 main colors are bad, 5 minor, tiny designs with the colors are good. Having 1/5 of your whole adoptable blue, another 5th green, another 5th yellow, another 5th red, and another 5th purple just won't do. It would be a disaster. Also try to keep your adoptable within a theme, even as bland as light or dark. Don't contrast themes, like blue with bright yellow, it just won't look good. A very light, whitish yellow would do, because it contrasts nicely with the blue. Also, if you make a lot of adoptables, see which one's sell the fastest, and look at their color schemes. Is it hot pink, black, and white? Or maybe purple, light blue, and dark blue? It all contributes to which types of adoptables you should make more of. Plus look at the species, most people like more "furry" type creatures instead of "scaled" or "slimy" looking creatures. Those types of adoptables don't sell well and usually only do them for a limited amount of time. And another thing, try variety with your species, no one likes seeing the same thing over and over again in their inbox when it just doesn't appeal to them personally. If you try a different species then maybe you could attract one more buyer, and go back to that other species later. A lot of factors go into making adoptables, but once you get used to the process, things are actually quite easy. I really hope this helped you and all your adoptable questions! <3
