Full size, please!My part of the pact with -- an artwork colored ENTIRELY with digital paint. NO MARKERS WERE USED IN COLORING THIS -- a first!Β
I wanted to make Link the focus, hence the subtle background of Death Mountain. I tried to keep it pretty simple, as I know I can go overboard on detailing. Anyway, this is loosely based on retro manual artwork with my own touches/changes. 'Did this work for a friend.

Well I can't say I agree with the changes to his face. It kinda gives me that feeling of seeing decidedly Japanese art in old gaming magazines and manuals, but redrawn with a more western style for reasons I can only guess were xenophobic.
On a personal note, I've always preferred Link with the long nose, big ears and beady eyes. They make him look more impish. They also make him seem more flawed and thusly more human, making him a better avatar for the player.
But otherwise not a bad restoration at all.

Hiya, thanks for the comment. Just to inform why I chose to change up Link's face in my piece: I am a big fan of The Legend of Zelda mangas, and I was inspired byΒ Akira Himekawa's style of illustrating Link's face in her A Link to the Past manga. The classic styles of Link in The Adventure of Link and A Link to the Past are Β pretty similar, with a few exceptions.Β So, hopefully that makes some sense -- clearly NO "xenophobia" happenin' here. And WORD on the lack of retro style Links around! Too many Twilight Princess Links -- aaaack! Twilight Princess is soooo... meh. And this is coming from a hardcore Zelda fan... anyway I digress lol

Well, many seem to ignore the classics, that's where some of the best games reside. I'm not much of a Zelda fan as you know but I do like me ...well the one game you don't haha Twilight Princess. I'm onboard with the classics, you know Sonic, Phantasy Star IV etc.
It's also very nice to see those who enjoy them like yourself making fanart to it.
You may want to look into a PC game called Evoland, it's ...hm, less of a game and more neat nostalgic trip. Take a journey through video game technology/RPG growth all in one game. Go from GB to ....well I made it to a FFVII part but my file got overwritten by someone, but worth it if you spot it on sale.

I'll probably do more digital artwork but it drives me nuts to sit with a tablet at the computer for so long...Β
