What for a nice shot here.
May I ask you, if you got a chance to know how soft this lovely lion-wig actually feels like?

Isn't it!? The Dancer Is also my Taiko Instructor and he is the Director of Portland Taiko here in our city. He's a fabulous dancer as well and one of the last accepted students by the wonderful Tachibana Sensei of Portland's Fujinamikai!

He makes a stunning Kabuki Lion, doesn't he?

Yes I did get to feel the wonderful softness of that wig! I believe it's entirely Yak hair - @ & it may have been soft but it was really incredibly heavy!

I will see if I can find the video of our DDD that year and post it here so you can watch him dancing with it... it was quite something to watch!

*le gasp* What for an incredible honor you must have witnessed here and he´s even your instructor?
Oh myyy!! I knew that the wigs are originally made of the fancy voluminous but very heavy Yak-hair.
But I still want to FEEL it someday. (Surely AFTER I ask as polite as I can...if such a thing may be alowed, since I want to respect this highly valued costme.)

Thanks alot for the reply. :3

Ah! here is the video link!

www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1PcYa…

I did not get to witness the dance in person actually - as I had to be changed to perform for the rest of the show. So I have only ever seen his dance through the video as in the link above, but even in the video.... it's really something...

To tell you the truth I do not know who's costume it is! Perhaps it belongs to Fujinamikai, in which case you would have to ask them.

I don't know where you're located.. but just so you know as you seem to have taken a particular interest in our shows... We will be doing a bit of a tour this year That includes middle America in the Missouri area as well as even heading up to Victoria Canada.

We will be performing mostly Kyogen plays with one Kabuki dance in Canada. No one will be performing this fabulous lion dance on the tour, unfortunately, but we will be performing some really great stuff so if you happen to be on our tour route I definitely recommend checking us out!
