jajaj xDD yeah, I cut my fingers with the saws always xD. the funny think is that I have always noticed when it's going to happen, it's like "mmm, I'm going to cut myself... and I can't do anything to stop it"

lol cuts.....thats a jeweler's number one bestfriend lol. I had to take a break this week, 4 of my fingers are bruised and cut from the saw blades. But it seems like the more you try to resist the cut when you see it about to happen, it only makes it worse.

aye, that's totally something I'd never do... but I suppose with all your experience, it's easier these days then when you started.

Aranglinn In reply to Marcusstratus [2009-01-08 04:03:59 +0000 UTC]
well, this still was really hard to made, but yeah, also it was a LOT easier than when I started...
I'd still prefer to do it casting or try something diffenrent... but I've had not enought time to find somewhere to learn that yet

yeah, and the facilities are another matter. the kiln, the centrifuge, etc.

Aranglinn In reply to Marcusstratus [2009-01-13 00:58:48 +0000 UTC]
indeed... well, now that I think about it.... I've never found a jeweler who could work in casting
I've seen casted pieces in jewelry stores, of course, but never have seen an artisan who can...
In fact, the only person I know of having casting knowledge and that have told me all I know... is my dentist :S xD

yep....I don't know if I will actually make everything, but I want to know how
Though I know I would definitely use the metalwork and lapidary

Even though I am not the biggest fan of crosses, I really like what you did here! The detail is beautifull! Well done! (btw, can I offer a suggestion?)

I think that it would be great if you put a texture on the backpiece, to create contrast. Not sandblasting though, rather put a broken drillbit in your hangingmotor. First practice on another piece because the texture will vary by the way the drillbit is broken. (sircular movements work best) Sorry if this is all stuff you already know!

very flippen good!! the only thing that I can see that is an issue is the uneven finishing on the circular piece at the back! You might have messed a little solder there and tried to clean it up using files or silicon wheels! this will never give you the absalute crisp effect that distinguishes a great piece!! Try to do as much soldering from the rear of the piece, then remove the excess later! But apart from that I would battle with this! far too many curves for my style! keep it up! cant wait to see what you will post later in this year!
