i did not pay for them, which is why i don't charge for the usage or require any credit. this is also why i listed my resource as scrapbook.com. these are meant to be used for personal designs and not professional.

it depends on the type of texture it is. these are meant to be used as a sort of base, or a background for a 100x100 sized icon/avatar. so, whatever the focus of the icon/avatar is should go over the background. then you'll have a nice pattern peeking through! look at my livejournal icons to get a visual example: [link]
