(UPDATE: So... ive abandoned this contest idea. so never mind. -_- Ill come up with something. i am slowing comeing out of an artist block.

(UPDATE: this contest is going no where fast. I orriginaly gave everyone till may 14th to draw something and link it to me. so far i only have maybe two contestants. i dont want to stop or postpone the contest, so what ill do is instead of haveing a due date I will leave it open till i start to see a reasonable amount of activity. maybe 5 or 10 (or more) submissions. Just link your submission to me after you have posted it.)

so heres the deal: I want to update my charicter Quaya. here are some links to previous versions 1. [link] 2. [link] 3. [link] links are in order of oldest to newest... yeah i havent drawn her alot. what i want is a new pelt design. when she was first created i wanted a cheetah with tigerstripes then i discovred King Chettahs [link] (look up on an image search for more photos) and i wanted something more like that.
However, Quaya may look like a chettah, but she's not. her markings need to be more unique then that. Quaya is a charicter from my Nieramiyan stories, her element is telekenises, shes very wise and seems older then the rest of her family (nieramiyans dont age much farther then maturaty so age is moot) Nieramiyans are an ancient race and have conections to ancent races, like Egypt (mostly Egypt) Quaya's title is Cat of Ra, she was one of the first Nieramiyans to be borne (shes one of kristols older sisters) when she was young she was sumuggled by humans from her island home to the mainland. later in her life she becomes the pet of a pharaoh named Nero. she guids him to build the Nieramiyan Temple. she sort of becomes a guid to the temple. i hope her markings can relfect these things (especialy her element)

Rules:
-use the lineart or draw your own to best show her element, race and conection to egypt (look in my gallery to get better familure with the Nieramiyan)
-LINEART IS TO BE USED FOR THIS CONTEST ONLY! after the contest is over i will remove the lineart and replace it with a finished drawn version based on the winner.
-Credit line art (and charicter for those not using lineart) to me when posting for contest
-Send links to me via notes. (I will post links in journal updates so others can see them. i hope to do this weekly)
-stripes under her eyes need to be in your entery, they are under both eyes and have a total of nine (including the one at the corner of her eye)
-no words or wrtten symbols of any kind (unless you know the nieramiyan language wich only one or two people on DA know that...)
-do not try to make up a background story about Quaya. (for some reason i can see someone doing this. she has one allready.)
-I would like her markings to be a reflection of her race, element, egyptian conections, and role as guid.
-should be inspired by King chettah, tiger, (perhaps even serval or any wildcat) markings, while still stearing away from too natural looking markings.
-colors should match older pictures (yellowish with black markings, but ill give you some leg room here: play with the shade of yellow, add in mulitple shades, whatever. so long as its in the yellow realm with black markings)

the prize will be a free commision, and the use of your design in my book. (working on it slowly and plan on publishing it) (i may even do a webcomic, thats still undesided)

The due date for enteries will be May 14th 2012. I'm giving you a good long time for this for a few reasons. finals are comeing up, then after christmas break its a new semester.... also that date is my birthday. its a date i will remember. i will look through entries between may 14th till the end of the spring semester before chooseing a winner.

so the lineart, like i said before is basicaly a trace of the original that i did in photoshop. when i pick a winner i will finish the original based off of the wining desing. i will post both versions side by side.
