Description
The Empress, from Michael Ende's novel "The Neverending Story". I've always loved that book and the illustrations were amazing. She is the ruler of Fantasia, also know as Moon Child, Golden-Eyed, Commander of Wishes. "She's much older than the oldest inhabitants of Fantasia, or rather, she's ageless". Maybe she's fantasy itself...

I used to love the book as a child and, I think it was last year, I sat myself down to read again. Still amazing - though my copy doesn't have illustrations, apart from the cover (which shows the medallion)

I first choose a neutral color (light-gray in this case) to paint every part of it, then I use a darker tone for the parts that are behind her (under the dress, etc) and a lighter/whiter one for the "sparkle". I do it very carefully, and then I use a thinner brush to paint the small details. I love drawing hair! I hope you like it

This is truly a wonderful and remarkable piece! It really does look like shes a child buy has the contented wise expression of an empress. The colors are beautiful and the hair looks so silky and light, like that of a moon goddess. Wonderful job and can't wait to see more from you!

Your welcome! Yes, it is a very interesting choice that I think is great! I've also noticed that a lot of people depict faeries as looking Asian, so I think it seems very fitting for the ruler of Fantasia!
